Yuk! I know of guys here who play "non-strats" with heavy flats that
I would consider more taseful, and who have better tone than EJ. . .
Yet that's just a matter of opinion.
But, I never really liked the idea of a signature model, or a relic,
for that matter. I guess when you reach the status of guitar God
you receive a signature model and mobs of guitar geeks who wish to
sound like you. I would have rather just been a front man and
received the mobs of women! Fender is brillant, they make these
guitars and target them towards balding weight gaining rockers
who've given up the dream and have desk jobs. They've got the
money, and they want to sound a little like EJ or SRV in their
practice rooms, there's no better way. You want a worn looking
guitar, but never really play one? Buy one of these relics!
If I owned Fender I would only release the AV series, and
reintroduce the Bandmaster and Showmen amps. We'd be out of
buisness in 5 years.
