We are trying to break in our rhythm guitar player, he found some TAB
sites. 90% of the chords are wrong, I'd recommend you learn this
stuff by ear. Surf is easy, and should be easy for you to pick up
this way. It will also make you a better player if you pick it up
that way.
For playing, I honestly think most of the surf sound comes from your
gear. Get a Fender Strat, Jaguar or Jazzmaster, string it with 12-13
flatwounds, plug into a reverb tank, and then plug that into on of
Fender's cleaner playing amps.
Get yourself a copy of "Eddie and the Showmen: Squad Car" "Jim Messina
and the Jesters: Dragsters" and "the Fender IV recordings." Throw in
some Dick Dale, because he did influnce all three of those bands.
