Re: [SurfGuitar101] Traynor amp for surf?

Dan Bartley (bigtwangguy) - 27 Mar 2005 10:07:21

I don't know about new Traynors, but the old ones were great amps. I used to
play through a Traynor Guitar Mate. It had a great clean tone at mid volume.
When cranked it was one mean sounding rig. Traynor used to make outboard reverb
tanks as well. Sure wish I still had that old Guitar Mate. Had all the qualities
of a Fender.
Cheers

Any opinions on Traynor amps for surf? I am specifically interested in a Traynor
YCV40WR,
a 1-12" combo tube amp. I'd like a little, new 40 watter for a backup amp, and
this amp
seems priced right. But I am curious if they have a good Fender clean tone, or a
sound
suitable for surf. How would it compare to a Deluxe Reverb reissue, for
instance? OR a
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe?
