Phil,
I follow and agree with your lines of musical change over the
years. And it all makes sense to me.
But do you see a Connection and or do you think anybody in Heavy
Metal bands from the late 60's early 70's got any influence form say
Link Wray/Duane Eddy, and Heavy Surf stuff from the 60's ?
When I first heard some heavy surf, I saw a direct connection to the
Heavy Downpicking of Metal. I'm not saying it's all the same.
There is tons of instro that has no connection. And some metal
that goes way farther than anything remotely surf. But I see a midlle
ground that is very similar.
And this doesn't count for some of the 3rd wave stuff that is
obviously metal influenced or Metal covers.
