that's my impression too - it mostly the speakers though, not the
amps so much - it seems to me that speaker's power handling has
improved tremendously. If you consider that even the JBL's are rated
at 150RMS or so. I just looked in to them, and the 15" eminences
don't go under 250 RMS - most are between 300 and 500...
I tried, and one JBL D140F can't handle a 100 watt bassman... so
you'd need that headroom, and a 100 wat bassamp is considered weak
these days. go figure, back then they had to do it with a 40w amp and
2 75 watt speakers...
