As i said in an earlier post about the playing bass through the
Bassman and those 2x12 cabinets, they sure sound sweet but you are
right the speakers can't keep up with a Showman or any big Amp. I
played a 66 Bassman with the 2x12 cabinet and loved the way it
sounded, tight, punchy, in my opinion just great but blew speakers
left and right more times than I care to count. I got about 8 12's
in a trade so I just replaced em, but that became impractical. I
upgraded to a 2x15 JBLD140F cabinet and didn't look back.
Occasionally missed the sound of the 2 12 s but didn't miss all the
hassles. The 12's are better matched for guitar and just add reverb,
it makes its own sauce. Good one at that.
