In the last year we have run a crossed one good soundman! The rest have all been
assess, trying to tell us what our sound should be etc. We did one live
recording were the music was of good quality. When we listened to the CD you
here the sound man changing the EQ all over the place, even while we were
playing! We didn't notice it on stage while we played. Pissed me off.
At our last gig, the so called sound man actually came up on stage and adjusted
the amps during a song!!!! I not so politely or discreetly told him what I
would do to him if he tried that again, as the crowd boooo ed him off the stage!
LOL
We recently got to know a professional sound person (went to college for it!!
LOL ) who is interested in becoming a permanent member. But still don't know how
we will be able to handle the "house" sound person wanting to run the show. I
think the only answer is going to be to include our sound tech as part of the
contract or argeement before we book a gig?
Anyone else have any suggestions or ideas that have worked for you?

Subject: [SurfGuitar101] Sound Man
I was interested in some of the other bands experiences with sound
men.
We have had some hard times with their arrogant asse , mostly at
some of the more popular beer joints around town.
Stuff that drive me nuts, putting crap through your monitors that he
thinks we should be hearing instead of what you want.Changing
settings in the middle of your guitar solo. And this really drives
me crazy , talking to you through the monitors in the middle of a
song. Rushing you on and off the stage when there is more than 1
band.
We have had some really cool guys, but most are just jackasses.
Any tips on dealing with these guys?
