I have what I think is a Teisco Del Rey I bought for $50 (no name on
it). It must have been made on a Wednesday or something. It is set-
up and plays nicely for surf. All those crappy ones were probably
made on Monday and Friday, you know, pre and post weekend partying
at the assembly line. Maybe the same thing happened, quality wise,
in Bakersfield, or LA or where ever the "M" guitars were made.
Stewd, I have a '83 iron head Sportster XLX-1000 in bone stock and
is is worth about what it was in '83, $4000. When I go fixin' for a
ride, I always fix the Sportster. I say fix rather than ride because
most of my time is spent fixin' that thing.
