I am surprised no one has mention Kramer basses here. Back in the late '70's I
went to my fav guitar shop (money in hand) to purchase a Rickenbacker bass. I
have short fingers and really like a small fast neck. The best thing happened to
me that day. The shop not only had a few Rick's to choose from, they had a
Kramer which, honestly, I had never heard of. After hours of playing, comparing,
etc. I bought the Kramer.
I played this bass over the next 30 years, and it never failed me. I love the
action and have never been able to find a bass at any price that compares. I
presently play a Mosrite, however, strictly for image. I would much rather play
the Kramer (and usually do in the studio) However, my guitar player (also my
son) insists on the image aspect. If I don't play the Mosrite, he stamps his
feet and holds his breath until I do! LMAO You father's out there know what I'm
up against!
I did see a Ricky a while ago that I would have loved to own, however, finances
said no. Maybe some day?

It's not suprising that "Rickenbacker necks are very Mosrite-y"
Semie Mosely worked for Rickenbacker before he started building
Mosrites. Wouldn't it be closer to say Mosrite necks are very
Rickenbacker-y??
On another note, Mosrite bass prices were pretty much in line with
Precision basses in 1965.....maybe 10-20%
higher. -- In , DP
