Hi Ferenc,
I'm afraid I stand firm on my negative attitude towards tabs and surf
guitar. While it is true that we forget the struggles we went through
to learn guitar or anything for that matter, I do remember my
personal trouble and it is by that very recall that I recommend the
avoidence of tabs. It is far better to get together with a guitar
playing friend when learning guitar. If one doesn't have any guitar
playing friends, finding such friends is the immediate priority. Why
not tabs? Tabs do not promote the independence and the ear training
and the self esteem that one gets when working songs out by ear. Tabs
do promote dependence on tabs. Surf music is so perfect for ear
training.
