Saw the Torquays at the Endless Summer concert at the Roxy Theatre way back when! Loved it. Thinking a lot about Duff today!

Duff,

Bro-in-law here...I know you are now out of surgery, still coming out of your drugged haze, but Andrea tells me the good vibes and prayers (which is redundant) worked and all went well last evening. I'll stop by Thursday, hoping that by then the haze will be lifted. I know you will not possible see this note by then, but when you look at it later, you will get a chuckle. Peace.

OK. Here's the update on Duff, my bro-in-law. Took the trip from SD to LA to visit and he checks out fine...successful surgery and successful attitude. He'll be back in the water and on the drums in no time. Keep the good vibes (prayers) coming...rehab is a long road back to Eden.

OK now, Duff is now back at home, safe and sound, down south in LN (Baja Laguna or Killer Dana Norte). He gets to see his two kids now, and his dogs on Sunday to release their collective healing dog-properties. Andrea (my sister) did a masterful job of hauling Duff to-&-fro and providing support throughout. So, SurGuitar 101 Brothers & Sisters...your prayers have brought him through it all. Can somebody give me an "Amen!"

Hello all,

I first want to thank you all for the support that my family and I have received over the course of the last week or so. This is a community that is filled with so many genuine, caring people...I am very proud and honored to call myself a member of it.

My surgery (TLC - Trans Labyrinthine Craniotomy) was indeed successful with regards to removing the benign tumor. There are some side effects that will be with me for a while to come... hearing loss, dizzyness, etc.

I won't bore you with the details but, again...please know that I do appreciate the support you all have shown.

All the best to you all.

Hello fellow SG101-er,

It’s been 9 days since the operation and my recovery continues to improve daily. Yesterday, we went back up to Los Angeles where I had the stitches removed and was informed by my doctors that all was progressing as desired. As a result of the surgery, redirecting the function of the lost balance nerve on my right side, to my left is the major hurdle that I will be addressing over the course of the next month or so.

I want to tell you all again that, without all of the support that you have provided, in so many ways (phone calls, emails, cards, flowers, books, meals, etc.)…this recovery would be a much more difficult and isolated endeavor…and for that, my family and I want to again express our most humble gratitude.

Looking forward to playing more surf!

Duff
