Sound of the Surf is the feature documentary that tells the true story of Surf Music. Co-developed with musician and author John Blair, Director Thomas Duncan spent over three years researching and filming around the world. The doc explores the early 60's when venues like The Rendezvous Ballroom, Harmony Park Ballroom, Revelaire Club and the Retail Clerkâs Hall dominated the Southern California music scene . But it didn't stop there. Blair goes beyond the rumored demise of Surf, to the late 70's when his band "Jon and the Nightriders" re-ignited the Surf phenom in the middle of a LA punk scene. He winds it up currently as that scene has spread across the globe and now thousands of bands come from nearly every nation. Live performances are included by today's best bands who show the diversity and innovation that Surf Music continues to experience. Bands appearing in the film include The Eliminators, Surfaris, Slacktone, The Madeira, Surfcoasters, Meshugga Beach Party, The Bitch Boys, The Barbwires, Wadadli Riders, Los Straightjackets and more.
We are a four-piece group from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. Our influences include The Pyramids, Dick Dale, The Chantays, The Lively Ones, etc etc :) Whilst we play mostly traditional surf instrumental music, we play our own modern compositions, and all of it with a dose of humour and of course the obligatory reverb! You can also find us on Facebook.
