Permalink Correct spot for reverb tank in signal chain?

My advise is to not use tuner pedals. You can't practice tuning too much. Your audience will thank you.

You can get the boy out of the Keynes era, but you can’t get the Keynes era out of the boy.

Your audience will think you for asking your bassist to hit an 'E' or 'A' while you attempt to retune in a noisy room?

I love having a tuner in my signal path. I have a guitar with a floating bridge and guitars with bridges that like to slightly lower themselves. Plus liberal trem usage. And, I do like to keep myself in tune. We have 4 instruments in our band, it is definitely noticeable when one of us goes out of tune. I've never held up a song while tuning. As for signal loss, I don't care much. I would never have it in my chain while recording, but live, or at practice it really doesn't bother me.

As a goal for ambitious guitar players I suggest training your ear to hear if a string, and if yes which one, is out of tune while the ending chord of a song decays. Also learning to hear to tune that string up or down. In an ideal world the musician hears detuning before the audience does. But one constantly has to train.

No, I don’t think there are pedals that can do the job better.

The is generally the preferred fix for such a thing. However, I obsessive compulsively tune if we are having a bad gig.

Ahh yes.. heard the name but never listened. I will check it out!

I like the way these work: they pick up the vibrations of the guitar itself and don't require that the volume be up, and do nothing to your signal since they aren't in the chain. I use them each time we play out and find them accurate and easy to use. May have problems tuning while other music is playing if it is very loud though.

I think the Boss TU-2 (not true bypass) acts like a nice buffer, it colors the tone but in a good way i think. I like it better in the loop

Guitar - Tuner - Tank - amp (s)

Not having a mute tuner onstage make you look like a bunch of dummys trying to tune to each other in the middle of a gig. I ride the trem arm all night and usualy only half to tune once in the middle during a drum solo or something that dosent stop the show

Give me reverb or give me death!
