Some other videos here too: http://www.youtube.com/user/MartinCilia#play/favorites/5/9u_CttIV7VY

Thanks for sharing that, but the title of your post should read
Jim Skiathitus (who plays lead of it), not Martin Cilia (who plays
rhythm). Great video!

Jim plays lead on all the older tunes but Martin and Jim share duties on the newer stuff. It goes without saying what a great player Jim is, however, when I saw them live a few years ago it struck my what an excellent guitarist Martin is also.

I am biased though Wink

"Saturday Night" is a great song. Particularly while played wearing a Star Trek shirt. Cool country western feel to the song.

Sean

Just got a Twitter notification from him last night and promptly followed him back; he seems to be pretty keen on using all the available social networking sites for promotion, so good for him. Here's his Twitter page, if you're interested:

He's put up another one recently which probably shows his lead ability more- if you are interested:

He's on Facebook too and quite active on there. Check out www.martincilia.com his new CD is not really surf but still worth a listen. Loves his vintage gear Smile

that's a good one!

but, i wish someone had a copy of them at the Sydney 2000 Olympics opening ceremony.....

I just got back from JB Hi Fi at Capalaba (Brisbane) and they have The Atlantics CD Point Zero priced at $26 in the 60's easy listening section.
If any one is looking for surf CD's in SE QLD. Coollangatta near the QLD-NSW border has a surf memorabillia shop on Mclean St adjacent to the Sands Hotel that has a great selection of classic surf CD's .

Does anyone know of any other sources of Surf CD's in Australia?

I'd give Polyester Records, The Last Record Store, Hound Dogs Bop Shop and Missing Link Records (all in Melbourne) a try. Most record fairs turn up stuff too.

u can try http://www.bombora.net.au ???
they got some stuff....
or pm me, i can send u some burnt cd's...lol

Bombora.net have been good to deal with - it's all Australian Surf and surf related. A bit different sound then the USA surf sound but authentic Australian surf music, if that's what your after. I ordered "Atlantics Live at Freshwater" a few weeks back...and it arrived Wink

I really like Martin Cilia's sound and technique. He's also is a very approachable guy. I've e-mailed him with questions about his sound & gear & such and he's always answered back. He'll also have an open dialogue with you via his facebook page. (Yes, he does a good job via social mediums) He once asked me for one of our band CD's and then offered back a very professional, and helpful, critique. I once suggested he join SG101, but don't think he's done so.
