I love that "surf beat": double on the two, single on the four. mm-BA-DA mm-BA, mm-BA-DA mm-BA...anyway, any suggestions for other beat to play along in surf style?

Also try single on the 2 and double on the 4.

Try leaving off the 2 and just hitting the "2 'and'" and then the 4. Quarter beats on bass drum and Eighths on the ride.

One I use very frequently in the Atomic Mosquito recordings is snare on 1, the and of 2, and one on four. Quarter notes on the bass drum and 8ths on the ride, hi-hat or floor tom. Played with the right touch and feel it is a very powerful driving beat. I sometimes mix it up with a traditional surf beat within the same song. No rules, play what fits and sounds right -Craig

haha and i didnt come up with this BTW! one of the Tmen did.. aha i forgot who though haha maybe we can start a Ritchie Valens Tribute band Danny i remember somebody yelling RITCHIEEEEEE! the day i covered for miles at one of ur shows. hahaha
