I'm kicking myself for not seeing this yet. Hopefully this weekend, though.

He’d have to acknowledge somebody elses expertise, I don‘t know if he’s able to.

I think you could make the case that his entire directorial and writing styles are based on acknowledging, referencing and sometimes stealing others' expertise.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Indeed, a post-modern way of art, creating collages of found chunks of other peoples creations. I was wondering if he felt this ability of his would pale when working together with somebody who’s always creating from scratch. The purity of his formula would be broken, but directors have changed their formulas before.

You can get the boy out of the Keynes era, but you can’t get the Keynes era out of the boy.

I guess technically he did when he made Jackie Brown - he made a lot of changes when he adapted Elmore Leonard's novel, but definitely kept more than just the title.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

I haven’t seen it. But I think a director with a name like his, he should come to have a proper composer create a score for one of his movies.

Exactly!

Curious to know if the German version of the film has the English in Subtitles? I think a big joke of the film is how pathetic Americans are for only speaking one language.

I haven’t seen it. But I think a director with a name like his, he should come to have a proper composer create a score for one of his movies. Stitching together pieces he found in his lifetime is not the same as using a profound knowledge of everything that music can be and do inside and out and tailor the notes onto the action. He’d have to acknowledge somebody elses expertise, I don‘t know if he’s able to.

Ah but it's not him or his style is it. I hate to use the 'P' word but Tarantino is a textbook Post-modernist (if that's not an oxymoron) and the re-hashing of eclectic popular culture and celebration of the shallow are all grist to that mill. The trouble with postmodernism is that its a school in which it's brilliant to be a daring young thing in - but it's a school of thought that rejects depth, and depth is what most people who achieve long careers in the arts have going for them.

word is that 'DEVIL'S RUMBLE' by DAVIE ALLAN & THE ARROWS is featured in the film

UNSTEADY FREDDIE

it's in the film, it was also featured in "Hell Ride", a QT executively produced biker film

I thought I had heard it before in one of his movies, while I was at the theatre. When I got home I popped my copy of Hell Ride in and sure enough, the song is both movies.
