they sold new for @$1700 new, Chandler makes a nice guitar, also nice lap steels. I only plugged mine in a couple of times and it does sound real good (lots of pick up choices), the craftsmanship and finish was so nice that I was afraid to play it and it ended up being a great piece of art that I dug looking at everyday for 7 years (just got a new house, not enough room for it now, time for someone else to enjoy it, and maybe even play it?!!). I'd sell mine for $1000 to any SG101ers...

If nobody here nabs it,
try Tiki Central,
some on there have the Bicycle and might want the matching guitar.

You know I now have been playing that Taboo Tiki (needed a good set up, though) for a few months. It is great. Partially afraid to play it lol--but have even had more skilled guitarists play it and they love it too (and the variety of sound).
Band I am in is doing surf punky stuff + noise etc--perfect for that, though I also have a 1958 Maton MS500 Reissue (set neck, great hardware etc) that I take with me and take turns playing).
Looking at a baritone now and the Metro Baritone (Chandler) looks great. . . . $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
(Considering the Fender Jag Bass VI Japanese limited issue though--cheaper--any experience anyone?)
Cheers

Why isn't Dipinto making a baritone yet? They kill in quality, style and price. The Chandler better be awfully fine to go for so much. Personally, I think the styling is limp. Galaxie 4 – now that is a guitar that screams at you: "Play me! Loud!!"

I guess on the one hand guitars are so much more expensive in Australia than North America, that in that context this wasn't super crazy (I tell myself). Build quality, sounds, all great. The hardware is top notch.
Just looked at the Galaxie--looks kind of cool--I prefer the Taboo Tiki; to an extent these choices are subjective. I also like the look of the Italia guitars though I suspect I wouldn't like playing them.
What's the build quality and feel like of the Galaxie? They're not too expensive at all.

The Galaxie I played was all that. Super solid, attention to detail, set up, ergonaomics, sounds playability –fun! I prefer it to new Fenders selling for 3 times as much at GC. You don't have to pay even $1000 here for a really professional guitar. We're living in the golden age of electrics, I tells ya.

Yes I think you are right--just looked at some Hallmarks, read a few reviews. Thing is, Gibsons over here (and they are far from cheap in North America) are REALLY expensive. Fenders, too, but you can still get a decent Fender for under $1K--the Blacktop Jazzmaster is none too pricey here ($679 AUD, which is currently below parity with the USD, and considering it is an import that's OK).
So, I will be in North America soon and trying to figure out what to get next--the Taboo Tiki is so versatile I'd be kind of stupid to get another 'surf guitar' unless I go baritone.
My other guitars: Chandler Metro (great guitar, strat-like, nice for blues etc), Maton MS500 50th Anniversary Edition (great guitar to play, versatile--sort of Les Paul-ish in some ways, at least in role), Normandy Rat Rod--my rockabilly/heavier stringed semi-hollow job, much better than the $2k-$3k Gretsches I tried)--so yeah baritone or something.
Hagstrom comes to mind for baritones, Fender (some decent reissues I hear).
So I looked at DiPinto--I think they used to do a Galaxie 4 Baritone? Can't find anything think I will email them.

DiPainto has such an amazing price-to-value ratio I'd buy one (or two) just on spec. You could probably resell one Down Under and keep the other for next to nothing net price. All the better if there are any baritones out there. LEt us know if you find any!

Chris DiPinto has been very accommodating--he can make me a Galaxie 4 Baritone. This is very tempting--I also like your idea of bringing 2 guitars back; I am in touch with a friend who might want one!
Glad my wife doesn't read this forum lol.

GOod idea – distract her from wasting her mental effort. WOmen think they are supposed to understand and intuit everything ('read you mind'). I think one particular psychic territory they cannot penetrate is that which falls under the influence of GAS. I believe that syndrome is peculiar to the male of our species.

Well, got the DiPinto Galaxie IV done up as a baritone. I figured since I have a few normal guitars (well, you know what I mean), I needed something a bit different.
Chris shipped it to my friend's place in Toronto--perfect timing as it arrived right before I left for a road trip to Quebec. Ordered an SKB case for the flight back (the waterproof 'bass case'--guitar JUST fit into it perfectly).
Jammed with the guitar for the first time with the band yesterday. It's great, but as it is a baritone--it has a specific niche in my hands (I am not a very good player at all).
I'll have to take some pics and post them up here.

Now I'm wondering if there's a guitar that'd match my Dyno Deuce bicycle.
