Los Straitjackets "Time Bomb" fuzz?

That's the one on "Hornet's Nest" and "Caveman". Seeing as that fuzz has both two different fuzz settings, and a pretty wide-ranging tone control, I wonder if that's what's on this one, too. --Crispy Top

It sounds very old school. Yeah, boss makes some great pedals. There is one good reason to not use them. And that's IF you have other as you say "old school" pedals that don't play nice with buffered . That does occur. Other than that Boss is a great choice. I picked up a FZ-5 fuzz for super cheap reconditioned. Great pedal. Top

They probably didn't use the Boss fuzz on the album version. I'm sure the Boss Fuzz pedals are merely live pedals which they use in place of the more expensive, larger, and more delicate fuzz they likely used in the studio. Also the Boss might react better with the amps they use live. Top

I have other vintage and more sought-after fuzzboxes, but this works nicely with the other Boss pedals I use. I loved the 3. Should have kept it... But the 5 is interesting because it goes to "11" With Fuzz knob at 12:00 it supposedly is a model of the actual Fuzzface, Maestro, and Octavia. But you can crank it up to 6:00 which just keeps taking the character of each up higher. I love the maestro cranked, because it loses the sputter, and frankly reminds me a Maestro with a Rangemaster in front of it. The octavia loses the octave when cranked, but it is pure nastiness and makes the Fender Blender sound tame, which we all need in our lives from time to time. Top

It's definitely a cool pedal, but the 3 became available through a craigslist deal, and the guy liked the idea of the trade, so I ended up with it. I have several older fuzzboxes, but I'm not afraid of using the Boss like I am the vintage stuff, so for me, it was a great acquisition. The 3 is a bit more limited than the 5, but still a good, useable pedal. I'd definitely recommend the Boss FZ pedals. Top
