Permalink Tab for "Black Sand Beach"

New Topic

Here's my offering for this Japanese Eleki classic by Yuzo Kayama -- a genre and artist of whom I never heard until just this week. Thanks SG101! This tab was requested by TommyD in another thread.

The version I used to work out the tune is in this video of the Ventures and Yuzo Kayama on Japanese TV in 1994 . . .

Well, you're certainly welcome! Wink -- and thanks for the corrections. I'll add the change to the intro for now but it'll take me a bit to figure out exactly what you're say about the lead break -- not because I'm dense, jus' 'cuz I have to get some actual work done today.

I'd be a much better musician if tab never existed and/or I wasn't weak from time to time and took a glance here and there at tab.

Woody,

Black Sand Beach is a great song. On behalf of those of us who are not as musically gifted as Zak, thanks for the effort.

Paul

Paul

Zak certainly was a gifted child. One might even say he had 'special needs'.

Okay -- up to Rev. 2 now. Got the change in the "melody" part but, man, that slide down to Bb on string 5 is tough to catch. You da man, Zak.

As for the problems with the "lead break part 1" -- guess I am dense, after all. I can see that Yuzo moves up after the two bends and I can hear the notes but I'm damned if I can make my hand do that! I'll work on understanding what's going on (sorry verbal description doesn't penetrate) and fix it once the light goes on over my ol' baldy bulb.

Thanks wood!!

I wanna play just like him when i grow up...

My thoughts as well. Thank you!

Here's a closeup from you tube. A ventures version sorta...

Maybe this will help a little.

Please just watch this one...

Yeah, really -- that "Ventures" version led me astray on a couple of points. Not to say that I'm not still astray . . .

Here's another sample...

Since we are on the subject of Black Sand Beach I can not work out the bass part.

I have the basic riff, but that walking part on Yuzo's recording is fast and hard to hear.

Any help with a bass tab of this song would help me a lot.

I'd like to approach Yuzo Kayama's sound on this song. Any suggestions as to effects? I don't have a Mosrite, but I do have a Strat and a Jag.
