Anybody familiar with this band or person?
The guitarist rips it up.
Cool stuff.

Thanks Billy.
I'll see to it that my Russian wife/music teacher listens to Swan Lake.
She's a classically trained pianist and the only way to get her to listen to surf was making her watch MBP.
This will help in my quest to make her a "convert"
Her Roosky friends giggle when they all watch MBP on youtube and we all know Russian's NEVER smile not even when married to a smart-assed-card carrying-fez wearing shriner-3 stooge watching-nyuk, nyuking schmuck like me!

I'm surprised that surf isn't more common in Russia. When I was visiting St. Petersburg we saw a "traditional" Russian music ensemble and I was in heaven. It's not hard at all to hear similarities.

"Riding the Snowy Wave" (comp) 27 tracks by Russian surf bands with fabulous cover artwork.. but really hard to buy!
Russian on-line shops are a nightmare to navigate and if you email they just ignore you!

I did see the Vivisectors - just last Saturday night at Ottos (thanks Freddie and 9th Wave / NESMA!). Bought two of the Gulag Tunes CDs, and am enjoying them very much.
I met a very nice woman who runs surfmusic.ru and she told me that there are about 20 surf groups in Russia, mostly in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but she also said there were surf bands in Nizhny Novgorod and Kiev.

Don't expect the same Messer Chups vibe with the Messer fur Frau Muller. The earlystuff is just plain dreadful, but the later stuff is just wacked out exotica. Not much of a surf/reverb guitar thing going on at all.I suggest just sticking with Messer Chups material. That's just my opinion though.

True brandonio.. true
Zombie Shopping should be the one that interests sg101'ers me thinks.
Below: a band of many talents including a drummer and reverb unit!
