Thanks for the help guys....good news!
I ordered two Surf Bugs from Jon at Tonecraft.
He got it shipped out quick even over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Installed the new Bug in the Tremolux yesterday and it sounds awesome!

I'm still dizzy from all the mind-bending ((((tremolo)))). Jon also sent me a new Orange Drop .02 cap to slow the trem speed down a little. He pre-bent the leads to simplify installation and it dropped right in perfectly.

I also ordered an extra Surf Bug and .02 cap for my Showman. This brought the Showman trem back to life too.

I was close to buying a used tremolo pedal for $50. To be fair, a pedal may have more flexibility and adjustments. For about the same dough I got the on-board Fender brand tremolo in both amps working and it just seemed like the right thing to do. It was an easy fix for any of you guys thinking about doing this. The first one took an hour, the second one took about 15 minutes.

The bugs are $27.50 and the .02 cap was a couple bucks. $5 for fast shipping. Jon at Tonecraft was cool and very helpful.

Nothing like a Fender Tremolo that's in good working order. The pulsations can shake up your guts!

Gald to hear it. Jon's bug's are the best on the planet. dman

As a footnote, here's a link to a technical description of tube vibrato circuits I read when I was trying to understand what was being talked about in this topic.
