This was a clininc on how to play old school high energy surf music. You can tell when band mates really enjoy making music together. This was one of those nights. Lots of surf music history here.
Paul "Mr. Moto" Johnson, present day guitarist for Surfaris, formerly of the Bel Airs, wrote Mr. Moto (credited as the first surf song) & Squad Car.
Ron Eglet, present day guitarist for Surfaris, former bassist for Dick Dale.
Steve Soest, former basist for Dick Dale, presently playing with Torquays.
Dusty Watson, former drummer for Dick Dale, presently playing with Slacktone, Agent Orange, Supersuckers.
BTD, what did I miss?
Is that Paris Hilton behind the Big Tiki Dude?
No sound, sorry.....

I'm sure glad I don't live in Cali - I hate these really great shows with all the huge names making great music and having fun -
Excellent photos - I'm so envious!

Terrific photos.
I'm afraid I know these gentlemen only by name & reputation. Is Paul Johnson the one with the Jaguar and Ron Eglet the one playing the white Strat?

I knew that hot chick and her Boyfriend were sittin behind the glass.
I just couldn't see thru the glass that well, as there was a bad glare, and I didn't wanna seem like a perv, drooling all over the window.
I wasn't sleeping, just resting my eyes.
if you saw video of me,instead of a still pic. I was tappin my foot to the beat.
Gret pix Tim, but can you size them down just a tad.
I always have to scroll side to side to see all of them.
Californy is the palce they wanna be, so they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly, Or HB, you decide.

If you see a picture of Paul Johnson from the Bel Airs time frame, when he was 16, you can tell it's still him, even though he's lost alot of hair.

I vote no, because I like wallpaper size lol.
You'd need a photo editor program and within that a resample option to size them down. Or on your camera you might be able to lower the resolution to like 800 x 600 or so, but don't, cause I like em wallpaper size
You guys got it made man. Clubs with surfboards hangin all over the place. Look at this group. Slacktone/Dale/Johnson/Torquays. Unreal. Bet it sounded awesome. Its like me going to a club in Pa here an seeing a U2/Dylan/Creed/Kansas group.

Hey Chopper,
I really feel for ya man, I mean it really bums me out that there are people that want to see these shows, but don't live here.
And there are surf fans here, but don't go to shows.
Not trying to promote too much, but trying to help out a East coast guy
with a reverb fix. You do know there are Surf bands on the east Coast right? Take a look at the Nesma Yahoo group, or it's sister web site,
sorry don't know the address.
Hope ya can find a band or 2 you like.

Thanks BTD!!!
Theres a lot to digest there.
Never knew about that.
Don't get me wrong man, I respect where this music originated from. And I totally dig the view from here. You guys are just blessed to be in the center of that whole scene.
I yelled up to the wife earlier...
'Hey Hun, next vacation...Huntington Beach!'
Reverb fix. heh. Yea, thats one way to say it
Thanks again Jeff

Chopper,
Go see Slacktone on the east coast even if you have to make an over nighter out of it. You will be glad you did.

who's hosting the pics? if you put 'em on flickr, you can simply choose a smaller size and grab the smaller size's url to post here. anyone wanting wallpaper can simply go to flickr and watch/download the walpaper size there.
great pics btw!
