I ran across these on Youtube a while back and I've been going back to them almost every time I sit down at the computer for weeks now. These two songs (the next one is the first video posted to the right) are just amazing.

It seems to me like there's an awful lot of awesome stuff coming from various parts of Europe these days. Does anybody know much about these guys?

Yes, I dig them a lot. We've played them on the podcasts. They toured So Cal last year or the year before, and then they went silent. Rumor has it they have a lineup change. Their Professor Vulcanova CD is brilliant. Mundaka calls is very good also.

I was lucky enough to see this phenominal band twice on their West
Coast tour a few years ago. They tore my head clean-off! They have
(had?) two red hot guitarists and a slammin' rhythm section. I think
guitarist Volker Kilauea and his bionic right arm left the band, but
apparently Ralf, Oly and Tom Kilaeua are still on board. Get their CD's.
I absolutely agree with Brian's assessment of "Professor Volcanova",
and "Mundaka Calls". Rickshawrecords.com had a free download of a
San Diego concert on the last West Coast tour. Hopefully it is still up for
download. I think Sean at Double Crown still has some of their CD's.
There are so very many really great European Surf/Instro bands, and
the Kilaueas are right up their among the very best of them. You need
to check this phenominal band out.

Quite disappointing that they don't mention that these two songs are actually covers. The first song is of course "Black Sand Beach" by Yuzo Kayama and the second is "Rod Hot Rod" by the King Pins.

The Kilaueas are great! Professor Volcanova is really good. Notice the drummer's cool shirt as well on the Black Sand Beach video.

I plan on getting both Kilaueas albums by year's end. I've kind of been shutting out the talk on the forum about bands I'm not familiar with because I really don't have the cash to keep getting into them like I always have in the past, but I just can't stand it anymore. I'm about to go on a run.

The Kilaueas' Professor Volcanova:   
Ditto Ivan and RobbieReverb. Vulcanova is one of the strongest surf CD's put out over the past few years. Too bad Volker left the group, I'm told that after 10 or more years he just wanted to try new things. But they have a new guitarist as can be seen in some of their newer videos. And Ralf is more than capable to handle the lead chores.

I put the Professor Vulcanova CD into the car player about a week ago and haven't taken it out since. It's really very good.
I especially like "The Invisible Man".

They also did a split (half and half) cd on Kamikaze records out of Germany with a band called Surf Patroulie. There half was called Magmanautic Inferno
although its not as good as Mundaka calls or Professor Volcanova
I recommend it.

Does anybody know exactly what that orange Yamaha he's playing is? The title of the video says it's an SG2C but I've never seen anything like it.
