Permalink Vibrato rise time

This is gonna sound weird but....

Did the built in vibrato on fender amps have a lag or a rise time ?

I'm using a box to do some weird RayGun sounds in one of our songs and a guy says that his old amp used to be able to do sounds similar to the effect. He went on to say that my sound was very Sci-Fi B Movie-esque and loved the Space sounds we got out of our rig. He mentioned the fact I could change the rise time of the vibrato effect and said he was stuck with just a slow rise he couldn't change.

Don't know enough about the old amps to know, but I was curious.

Thanx in Advance

Roger

Well on Fender black face amps you had 2 knobs for vibrato (actually tremolo). One was the intensity, which controlled how much of the vibrato got mixed in with the non-vibrato, and the other was speed (for the the rate of the fluctuations). There wasn't really a rise time control, if I understand your friend correctly.

I know that a lot of amps were Mislabelled Vibrato instead of Tremolo but did any have pitch modulation in them originally ?

Roger

I believe some Vox amps had real vibrato and tremolo.
