If I gave an honest answer, I'm sure I'd be called "elitist." Hey, the band donated it's time for a free show. Not the best or the worst I have seen. They did play some stuff I had not heard other bands do. Magnificant Seven, The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, A Summers Place - started out slow like The Tornados then hot rodded it. That was cool. The AK-47 guitar died on Secret Agent. It was hot, the band worked hard, it was free, there were lots of nice people & we were close to the beach. Worse ways to spend the day. I still have a buzz from the previous Sundays show at the beach. |

Hey HBkahuna - don't be so hard on yourself - by "elitist" you probably mean "traditionalist", which I used to be, but then I got tired of hearing surf bands playing the same old songs the same old way - that's why I love playing with me mates as we've achieved our own creative sound, playing, as you say, things other bands don't do - such as The Simpsons and Eleanor Rigby, along with originals but still do the recognizable trad tracks, again, in a way you may not have heard before. |

Trust me, I was not making fun of your band. I was poking fun at another poster that flipped out when someone offered a recent constructive critique of another band. When I say you guys were not as good as some of the other bands, few are in the same class as Slacktone & Madiera. Not everyone can be the Beatles or Eagles. That is not a put down or anything to be ashamed of. It was hot, you guys played your asses off, sounded good and I appreciate it. Excellent song selection. You guys made my Sunday very enjoyable. I hope to see you guys play again. Sorry to see the AK-47 misfire. First wave, third wave, traditional, it's all good to me. |

Hi HBkahuna Here's a few shots of one of my Jazzmasters I used on Sunday. It's a Masterbuilt instrument by Gene Baker when he was at Fender. There is Surf east of Sepulveda. |
