Permalink which pedals does everyone use

curious to hear from everybody which pedals they like to use and the different brand/kinds etc. Do you use any with a Reverb tank?

In view of the fact that Surf is but one of my interests (but clean guitar sounds are what I use nearly all the time) I find that most of my effects are related to delaying, echoing, or in some other way modulating the clean sound. I have a Boss RE-20 which is basically a tape echo simulator. I use a DD-5 delay pedal mostly for my clean, lonesome sound and I have a Temolo pedal for those rare occasions I need trem and am not playing my Twin. I am contemplating the purchase of a Weber Tore-Vibe.

I use a Boss Tremolo pedal sometimes. It's no Tremolux, but it can do some pretty cool stuff.

My Pedalboard:

Line 6 Echo Park
Line 6 Verbzilla
Barber Tone Press
Voodoo Labs Pedal Switcher
Boss GE7 EQ
Digitech Whammy
Planet Waves Tuner
VooDoo Labs Tremolo
Behringer V-AMP Pro
BBE Supa Charger for pedal power
Radial Big Shot I/O
Radial Big Shot ABY
Fender RI Reverb Tank (is this a pedal?)

I'm planning on getting rid of the Boss GE7 EQ pedal, all the others are used at some point in time. Some more than others.

I like the Boss trem but it does lose some volume. The TR-2 is supposedly much better with the Keeley mods.

Have you ever stepped on it? Smile

Keep it simple nowdays...a Yamaha MagicStomp II programmed with "The Echos From The Past " patches that nail all the Hank Marvin echo tones..also use it for overdrive

Yeah, I only really use it when I practice/write songs at my friend's house. He has good amps and we usually mix in a little overdrive or distortion with it. Sounds a lot better than when I use it at home with my crummy practice keyboard amp. In that situation, there is quite a bit of volume lost.

I've stepped on the footswitch wired into it. Does that count?

Additionally, I had the tank perched up on a stand, did a pratfall backwards over my pedal board, knocked the tank off the stand completely. Bass player caught the tank mid-flight.

As I was laying on the stage floundering (and laughing my head off), the bassist looked down at me with the tank in his hands and said in all seriousness, "It's okay, I caught it"...

Now that's what I call a supporting bandmate...:-)

One of these days I'll send mine out to Keeley and that should take care of the problem.

Even though your website clearly states that you don't play live? Laughing

Can you blame him after an event like that? Smile I'd give it up too.

I haven't done anything on that web site in quite a while, thanks for reminding me. Hence it's more than a little out of date. Now that I'm officially retired, I plan to update it. Least that's the goal at this point...:-)

None the less I had to do one gig just to remember why it was I didn't want to gig anymore (August 2008). My daughters 20 year high school reunion wasn't probably the best choice but we were affordable..:-)

I like the Steely Dan idea better where you just don't do any live work. Because, it's a heck of a lot of work to play live. My hats off to all the guys who do though.

ive got a digitech rp7 that i play with but its not very good and very confusing to use imho. other than that i just use the reverb and overdrive on my amp. i would like to get a line 6 pod (on craigslist for like 50 bucks) to fool around with, and a nice delay pedal.

When I played for part of my income it was no fun at all. I hated gigs. Then, "I a daytime job and I'm doin' alright" so when I get to play the occasional gig I love it.

AFAIC a band that just got together and rehearsed once a week like clockwork would be fine. If we played three gigs a year that would be plenty for me. Woodshedding new material, getting things tight, that's what I like best.

I'm currently running my Fuzzmite->original Sovtek Big Muff->MXR Carbon Copy->Boss TU-2 into the amp.
I've cut out quite a bit of stuff, I've been thinking about putting my EHX Small Stone back into the mix.
I've also got a BBE Two-Timer on order, they're back ordered about a month now, so it'll be nice to 2 different delays.

Huh?

SSIV

Well, I want a BD-2, not really for Surf, but I will try to incorporate it, and a reverb tank.

Sonichris
I also like to think that all early 60's fender equipment is happy to be playing surf music again. After all, its the music it was meant to play.

If you're looking to get one, I highly recommend modding it.
The mod I like the most is the "Tweed Amp Mod", you can find the parts on ebay for about $20.
It sounds amazing.
