I'm trying to figure out how to play bridge part of Baja.
From hearing different versions of Baja, almost everybody has a different way of playing it. Probably can just get away with different chord variations of G-D-C-D-G-D-C-D-E. I'm talking about the one and only Astronauts version. Also Surfcoasters live version is excellent!

I've gone as far as to using audacity to slow the song down to -50% and listen to it alot til it sticks in my head. This is what I have so far.
Starting on the 4th string on 9th freet, 3rd string 7th fret, 2nd string on8th fret, 1st string on 7th fret, etc going toward 3rd-5th frets on keyboard!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

           G D C
1st------B-----------------------A------
2nd-------G-G--G-A-----F#-F#---G----
3rd---D----------------------------------
4th--B------------------------------------

Play a regular open D chord on the 2nd fret. Slide that up to the 7th fret and it's a G. Start there.
The tune is now right under your fingertips.
Martin Barred D chord at the 5th and then down to barred C at the 3rd.
great tune...good luck.

Ben, thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. I definitely understand the chords and key the song is. It's just putting the pieces together for that one part.
Let you know how it turns out when I get home tonight.

Yep, It's a simple tune but I think I butchered it pretty bad last time we played it live. I should practice it too. Good luck.

Howard,

You are certainly right that there are many versions out there.

I just submitted a PDF to the Downloads section of the Main Menu that contains three different versions of the bridge for Baja.

Brian has to approve the submission, so it should appear over the next few days.

Hope it helps.

Ben, it worked like a charm and I can see where it's very easy to go off and play different variations of that part and with the same chords/notes and different frets, etc. Hi Paul, I'll be sure to check out your pdf version.
Thanks very much and surf's up from the east.
