Atlanta's biggest annual outdoor party/festival returns this Labor Day weekend to the Starlight Drive-In in Atlanta, GA.

Saturday is the surfier day. The Disasternauts lead off, El Capitan and thee Scallywags bat third, and Agent Orange headlines!
In between some great garage/rock bands. Plus cars, BBQ, vendors, and of course, at night, the classic (and not-so-classic) movies.
It's an all-day affair. The Disasternauts around 1pm, El Cap 3pm, AO 7:30pm. If you've never been, it'sa heckuva good time! Plus, it's the Drive-In, so pack in whatever you can carry (chairs/food/beer/sofas/tents/etc).

Can't wait to be there... and am hoping that the crappy weather... flooding... and power outages that we have been experiencing in Florida stay away for the weekend...

I just checked the forecast for this weekend in Atlanta, and it says highs around 90°F... lows around 70°F... and only a 20% chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday...
Just the way we like it... drenched in reverb... not in rain...

I just got back from the Starlight Drive-In where preparation for Drive Invasion 2008 is well under way!
The owners are stoked and have informed me that all is on track for yet another great event!
However, I do have this:
TRAFFIC ALERT!!
Georgia DOT will be working on I-75/I-85 downtown all weekend long with multiple lane closures! That plus all of the Labor Day activities will make downtown a huge mess!
If you are traveling from out of town make maximum use of I-285 and I-20 to get to Moreland Ave.
Fez, you'll definitely want to utilize I-285.
Anyway, can't wait to see some SG101ers there!

the show (Day 1) was a rip-roaring success!! the place was packed, with people there for the cars, the rockabilly 'scene', punk rockers, surf junkies, rock n rollers.....and drive-in movie enthusiasts
great MC'ing by JET POWERS, by the way; congratz to VID from DRIVE INVASION for putting together an amazing experience; shame I cannot do Day 2, but I gotta get back to NYC for the UNSTEADY/WOOD 'BEACH BALL'
plenty of pix, & videos are stored in my camera, and as soon as I can I will make them available
one complaint...THE HEAT! O/MY/GOD how do these people who live here handle this on a prolonged basis?
anyway I am exhausted, gonna crash out, and check in again when I can
great to see so many familiar faces...and I appreciate all the warmth that came at me (not the heat, I meant the friendly reception I received

Overall a big success. Check out UF's pix to see what y'all missed! (and that was just one day!)
