The legend of Radio Free Bakersfield. A few years ago Whorehay happened to be down at the county lockup. Bailing out an uncle, I think. In one of those coincidences that fuel history, he was still there when they brought in the gang of pants-free Warlock Flashers in their leather dusters and oddly truncated chaps. Down the hall a discordant female voice laughed and started to sing "Ode to the Va-Room," and he heard someone exclaim, "You ain't got no license to broadcast, so pipe down!" which was followed quickly by "Hey, whore, he's talkin' to you!" At just that moment, one of the booking clerks turned to the other and asked, "How are randy old bikers filed, anyway?" Suddenly Whorehay knew where his life savings and all his spare time were going.

Swanky Intoxi-Key. But needs a better laugh substitute. That's actually the hardest part.

As usual, another spectacular effort. One of my favorites for sure and I'm not even done listening. Top three at least. Fantastic!

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Ever done an all 1961 series? All 1962, 1963, etc? Just the B-sides?

You seem to do OK running on empty, but maybe take one of your favorites from the past and substitute different versions, equivalents, etc. Some people might consider this cheating but I don't think it is. And it can be instructive. You probably already do it and we're just not clever enough to see. Works better (or easier, anyway) if the stuff is standards, but where it isn't an you have to go with "simialr feel" or something else is where it gets interesting.

Thematic can be interesting, though tricky to avoid too much similarity in. This last for example was all bands that start with "los." The one before that may have been "all the thoughts of horny men," though with rock & roll it can be hard to tell. All covers of jazz and/or classical might be interesting. For a while I amused myself in the car by putting together all keyboard compilations. Mary's done "all saxophone." I liked it. All trumpet might be a bit more challenging. All female bassists? Or, for a challenge, all female lead guitars. Stop me when I hit one you haven't thought of.

All songs with the word "Mary" in them? "Phil" would be a lot harder.

All songs with that Malaguena "dun-dun-dun dun-dun-dun" thing in them? That might be a bit monotonous.

These are great! I dig doing the theme shows because they are relatively easy to put together. Same for the threefer/rock block shows. My ideal show would be 70 minutes of brand new GREAT music that I personally have not heard before. I've come close a handful of times.

You do pretty well with "70 minutes of new GREAT music that I personally have not heard before." Just keep channeling my ignorance I guess.
