"In The Past" was originally written and recorded by Florida garage band We The People. I wouldn't be surprised if Satan's Pilgrims got inspired to cover it based on that version rather than the Chocolate Watchband one.
And the prize goes to Klas!
Thanks everyone! I took an overnight trip to the OR coast. More to come when I'm not tapping on my phone from the beach.

Amazing, Klas! I was wondering about the composer's credit. I think it was Proctor, and there was a Wayne Proctor in We the People.
And check it out: We The People: Mirror of Your Mind / In The Past
I am kind of bummed not to have been able to combine the SG101 thing with the catching the Pilgrims. Some day! The pictures help. I'm looking foward to seeing some from the Hula Hula show, too. I looked around just now, but I couldn't find any yet.

There is also an amazing cover of "In the Past" by '60s French pop yé-yé band, Delphine called "Le Fermeture Eclair". The song is sung in French with completely different lyrics. The Rocket Scientists used to perform a surf cover of it a few years ago.

Technically I didn't forget about the Seattle show. I was thinking about it, however I did forget about the Portland one.
I saw this instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_NVsPM87eI

Wow, that's super cool, Jake. Awesome...
So, thanks to all who made it out to either or both shows, especially K from Pittsburgh who lurks around here and made the trip! Seattle and Portland were both really fun and we managed to throw in some songs, like "In the Past", which is new for us (damn, I didn't know it had been done instrumentally before) and some old Pilgrim ones that we haven't done the last couple of years. We were inspired by our peers' choices in covers-thinking "if someone else chose to figure it out, maybe it's good...", so we threw in "Hester Synne", "Ichabob Crane", and "Fra Diavolo" for a little variety.
The drum riser. What can I say about that? The preparations for the outside show were in the works as we were driving back from Seattle. John told me he had ordered one to be set up that would be 5x5 and 1' off of the ground. Well, it turned out to be a little higher, as you can see. My friends enjoyed watching as the legs of my drum stool bounced inches away from the edge as I played. If I had gone over, three little kids, my neck, and Scott's extra Jag would have been toast. Oh well, I'm always up for a challenge. It was quite a view, too.
Thanks again to everyone who came and to those who wanted to and couldn't for various reasons (the expense of travel, gas prices, the economy in the shitter, the upcoming convention, work, etc, etc).
PS John Pilgrim is also in the celebrity stalker photo.

So now we know why future surf versions will be called things like 'The Last Eclair' and 'Memories of Eclairs Past'. Or "Eclair de Lune'. There are lots of possibilities here, really. And there's always 'This Time Let's Do It My Way'.

Here are some online pics from Portland. The first is of the interior of the white and red 1978 Thunderbird that John Pilgrim managed to score for me to use during my stay in the NW (whatta guy!). Our friend Ewoud, in the next few pics, models with the car and a bottle of Maker's Mark at about 9 in the morning, the morning after the Seattle show. We were trying to recreate a liquor ad that you might see in Penthouse or Hustler in the 70s. The rest should be fairly self-explanatory of our outside show in Portland.

Mission accomplished - especially the third of those.

Nice to see that there are still surf bands today having more than one beer on stage, haha! (I counted at least 4 cans under your stool).

Scott has a sweet Rickenbacker. Any idea what the make of Dave's 12-string is?
Thanks for the pictures Ted!

Vox.
It's a bitch.
Klas,
We do enjoy a little beer when we play and one of those cans was refilled with something stronger once I drank it. Thanks to my friend, Greg.
