The Nebulas are the latest addition to the stable of surf bands used for the buffers on Underground Garage. Sure, Little Steven's going on with the track list of songs with vocals they just played and whatever his abstract theme of the week is, but hey, they list the band and song title on the playlist and it links to the band website.
Of course, if you're listening on the radio, there's no way to know its them, unless you already know the song, but I know from our experience that we've gained some new fans by being in the "buffer zone". So congrats to the Nebs for making it to the national and internet airwaves!
BTW, the fact that SP and other fine surf bands are assigned buffer status drives my wife nuts. She wants to start some sort of campaign to get UG to play more of us surf/instro bands during the actual show. I've heard Los Straitjackets and Dick Dale played on the regular playlist, but few others have made this A-list and have been lucky enough to have been played without being talked over.
Oh well, it's better than nothing. At least the guy that produces those segments is a big fan of the genre. I contacted him before the Asbury Lanes show, and he actually came. He bought the Nebulas cd and a couple months later pow! Von Schlieffen Plan (my personal fave as well) is on the air. I didn't even have to get him hookers and cocaine!

I heard that he has done one or two all instro shows.
He used to be on Sat night 11pm to 1 am here so I always missed it.
But now it's Sun. form 10 to midnight so I listen occasionly.
I like about 75% of what he plays. but do wish he would play surf/instro as a major section of each show, not just talk over it.

It is great to see you here Dano! Although I am a little frightened by the direction of this thread...
I did see that picture of Dano and Bobby sitting together on someone's myspace page. Hilarious!

It wasn't stinky...I mean...no, I don't know what happened to it.
My biggest regret was getting lazy and not using the digital vidcam I brought with me for those shows. I would kill to get back the image of TFJ moving in on that girl at the Doug Fir in Portland as he repeatedly asked her "So you like fisting? You like fisting? really?"
She thought she would shock someone in the backstage area but she knew not the person she mentioned fisting to.

Thanks Wannes. Pretty much spent the last year working more than I would have liked to. Hoping to be around more now. Hoping to get back over your way next year too, but we'll see.

Hey Hey Hey, wait a minute here.
Haven't they toured Europe twice since they were in Calif. last????
They were supposed to come here last year for the surf coasters shows
but then couldn't do it. I think it's our turn now Wannes.
Joking about all of this of course....
