I'm planning to catch the Madeira when they're in town in a couple weeks and was thinking it would be nice to have a SG101 t-shirt to spread the word, identify other SG101ers, and just plain be stylish.
Yeah, it's too late for this show but has this been discussed or is it a possibility for the future?
If Brian and others are interested, I could do a little web searching for suppliers but would definitely need help in the art department.

Of course it's just that Cafe Press thermal transfer stuff.
It would be cool to get some quality screen printed stuff, but of course that's $$$.

I have one from CafePress it is pretty good. I would buy another one if there is a new one that comes out. I would like to see it setup so that the procedes go to the SG101 web site!

The logo at the top of each SG101 page would look really cool on a shirt (the white jaz, the surfer, and the logo). Let's do something!

Hey I forgot to add one more thing. Give people a choice of white or black t-shirt. I have quite a few from bands that are black. They are way hot in the sun so I can only go out at night. I also have a cat that covers them with cat hairs. I prefer white for practical purposes, b ut black usually looks better if you are in a steril envoronment. So try to have a design that would work on both.
Thanks

i agree, it would make a cool design for a t-shirt. it could be printed on black, they just have to print white under it first. i also think it would be best printed on the back.
just my opinion..........brian, we've got a really good screenprinter that does most of our shop shirts. i can ask about this design if you want me to. carol

Carol that would be cool. I'm not sure if we have the original, large, hi DPI version of the logo file laying around. The shirt people will probably want that over the logo above...right?
We would probably want to add the full www.surfguitar101.com to it somehow too. Maybe just put that on the back in plain letters. I dunno.

okay, I 'll buy a T no sweat of course.... in fact I 'm all for it. but, however, and as cool as the logo above may be, I'd rather not walk the streets in a shirt with a wetsuited shortboarder on it. sorry, some redesigning will have to be done.
Brian, could you post what kind a font it is you used? I 'll f around a little and make a test shirt with th eprin-and-iron-on stuff!

Wow, I had no idea a guy in a wetsuit on a short board would generate so much hostility. The picture has special meaning to us because my wife took the photo in Santa Cruz on our trip to see the Surf Coasters, et. al...some people were actually surfing in April in very cold water. I was freezing just watching them.
So have you all hated the logo all this time and just never said anything?
Well maybe as part of sprucing up the site a more traditional logo can be created.

As a NorCal member, I have no problem with the wetsuit.

i've been surfing every day for the last three weeks--on a short board--so, i relate to the short boarder. i've also been surfing in 78* water, so i don't relate to the wetsuit. but, that being said, i like the colors and the layout of the design. yes, it needs the .com
brian, i'm going out of town for a week so i'll get back with you about the screenprinter then. carol

noop I like the logo. there's just room for improvement that's all. I would have _hated _this logo:
as for the shortboards and wetsuits, of course as far as surf as a sport is concerned, three hurays for technological developments, I totally understand that. but a wetsuit on a shortboard just doesn 't signal surf music to me. its signals, "endless summer II" and "point break" which in turn signals "cheesy 80's sympho shred music" and "Patrick Swazey (sp?)" which in turn are perfectly valid reasons to get totally depressed - unlike surf music.
just easthetic preference, no hostility.
EDIT: I realize though that it probably makes a difference whether you actually live in a surf-area (say, with a beach close by, and a surf shop maybe ) or are landlocked in a country where there's very little surfing going on at all.

I apologize to Michael Schenker, as that clearly is not a Gibson Flying V.
Love the pink text and horseshoe font. There is just so many things wrong about that logo. I'll use it on April 1st along with the Antigua shout box.

actually, it's Michael Schenker's Dean artist series. no need for apologies.
btw, the insect surfers' guy plays a flying V so that's a perfectly acceptable surf guitar there. the horseshoe lettering is making the connection to spagetti-western and mariachi music, much discussed on the forums, and golf, well, as a matter of fact, the dutch word golf (also) means "wave". so, really, if you'd translate "surf music to Dutch, you'd probably say something like "golf-music".
so there you have it, nothing wrong with my logo, it just screams surf music!
I 'll try to come up with some more serious suggetsions for the site, okay.
