This just arrived from Switzerland and I can't wait to listen to it. >I love these mad Russians.
****I may love these mad Russians, but Messer Chups apparently doesn’t love me. I know that M. Chups likes to recycle the occasional song, but of the 17 songs on this CD it looks like 12 are from their last 3 albums with 9 of those 12 coming off their last cd “Bermuda 66”. From the sound of them they may have been remixed or possibly re-recorded, but they essentially sound the same as they do on the original albums. So if anyone wants to save themselves 25 bucks e-mail me and I’ll give you my phone number, you can call me and I’ll play you the 5 new songs over the phone. Damn and I was so looking forward to a whole new CD of Chups-ian madness.
Thanks for the warning.
more over there is a best of then carefull
i have buy it with bermuda 66 last time i saw us (in november)
and for the first time or the four time i have see us i was a little disappointed ,the sound was strange not as good as always and it feel more slow, less powerfull and less exiting than before

Great score, TuneFan. Those are must have comps - such a nicely curated collection by the folks @ ACE.

Just picked up an Insect Surfers CD from Lou's in Encinitas. Seems to be upbeat, happy surf music, perfect for the SoCal vacation. Lou's is great. Not only is it a music store that's still in buisness, but they actually have a surf music "section". Though small, try finding that in Texas

Thanks. Yes, nicely done comps, some tunes I did not already have are on them. ACE has put out some good comps, Big Surf (primarily Del-Fi content) was another good one.

The Marketts-"Outer Space, Hot Rod's & Superhero's" (on ACE)!! Somewhat "controversial" as surf bands go. Seems like when they "called themselves surf" ("Surfer's Stomp") they were not surf. Then 1963-67, when they released 45's on Warner Bros., they had enough glissando's & reverb to pass for "surf", but they never mentioned "surf" anymore. Please check this out: You Tube has "Avenger's Theme/Marketts" & it is Wonderful....(there's some other goodies as well)!! This is some of the nicest Tommy Tedesco playing I've ever heard ! (IMO).

Added a couple of more cool and beautifully shot Japanese picture sleeve Ventures 45s to my collection.
Most of these Ventures PS 45s are really affordable and are often priced around just $10 BIN on eBay.
Also picked up a rare Terry and the Blue Jeans 45 with the two tracks originally only released as a single.

"Tribal Fires" by The Madeira is the latest acquisition. Their best effort yet, IMO.

Thanks, Jack!
Been enjoying the hell out of these two lately:

These two, along with The Shockwave's "Death Race", were released last year by the Finnish (Swedish?) label GAS/Goofin' Records, and all three are phenomenal examples of modern Euro surf. Love 'em!

Actually, I fibbed a bit. The last instro album I got, or I should say "finished" was this one...
The mastering was finished this week and it'll be off to the duplicator soon.
Apologies for the shameless self-promotion.

Friend of mine came back from a record fair in Birmginham, AL. Knows I was looking for instrumentals and told me to take this record, saying it was a buck.

Don't know anything about the bands (The Vice-Roys, The Nu-Trons, The Tramps, Mickey Baker, The Wobblers) but there's definitely a few weird ones on it. Not used to seeing a surf album on the King label. All I can find about this record was that it's sold for $33 and $40 before.
If that weren't fun enough, got my El Sotano 7" from Mike Barbwire in (from Double Crown) along with some Dead Rocks and "Blind" Rage and Violence. Haven't listened to the latter two but the Mike Barbwire track continues his streak of putting out the absolute best surf rock on the planet.
Speaking of which, why didn't anybody tell me the Ramblin' Ambassadors have had a new LP out since March? That's on the way...

Two records i've picked up during our latest USA trip:
"Blind" Rage and violence - The end of rocknroll
This is Deke Dickerson's tribute to the godfather of surf: Link Wray. This little gem is one of the rawest instrumental records of this decade. A must for every Link fan. And if you think this is raw, try to catch one of their live shows!
V.A. - Rendezvouz Ballroom Reunion 2000
Bought at the Huntington Surfing Museum and worth every penny. Great sounding live stuff from Dick Dale, Space Cossacks, Jon & the Nightriders and others. When is Dick Dale finally gonna release a live album?

Hey Arny,
Dick has 2 live albums, though they are older.
Rock out with Dick Dale and his Del-Tones: Live at Ciro's (Capitol 1965)- reissued by Sundazed.
The Tiger's Loose (Balboa 1983) [live album]

As far as I can tell, the Ciro's re-release is vinyl only.
The Tiger's Loose is vinyl or cassette(?!)

I think that Dick Dale also has a Live show recorded at a Hard Rock Cafe
in Texas, that he sells at live shows only.
