in a way it is no coincidence that TIM SULLIVAN is appearing on this show with me
after all, THE SUPERTONES were the first band to perform for the first live surf show I put on in 2004 at a small bar with a surf 'n' bamboo theme, then called TAVARU
I want to thank Tim for getting back to me so early this morning; I only got word from THE JOEY REYNOLDS SHOW that this was coming together with less than 24 hours notice -- most grateful to you TIM, and THE SUPERTONES, for helping me get my live surf events off the ground
this is a wonderful opportunity to raise the consciousness of local WOR AM NY area listeners about the surf scene going on, about what NESMA is, about upcoming events, both here and worldwide, and bring attention to this forum where people can go to learn more about what is happening with instrumental surf
the show does get podcast, and streams in real time, so the potential for world-wide surf music exposure is real great!!
hope some of the forum members will tune in
and they take callers, as I understand it

should be alot of fun but 2:00 am is bit early but nothin i haven't done before.listen guys every one of you all talks about getting surf music out there and on the radio freddie is the guy who is really doing it and getting people to come to these shows here in NYC and keeping surfmusic alive not an easy feat to pull off here in the big apple right, you go man you are the best bro.we love ya freddie and keep up the great work you've been doing here in the north east

As posted earlier during last week, I went on to the JOEY REYNOLDS SHOW on WOR-AM in New York City - the show airs live.....
Joining me was TIM SULLIVAN of the great band, THE SUPERTONES
We were supposed to go on at 230 am (this would have been, literally, June 19th Thursday)....but the show ran a little late, and we got on around 10 minutes to 3 (giving us less than 10 minutes to squeeze in what we could)
We had a great time, talking briefly about the origins of surf music (I brought a bunch of my 45 rpm's from my youth); and TIM gave a great LIVE demonstration of the powers of the reverb....
I have been advised I will be back on the show; working out a date, but assume it will be in AUGUST of this year as I am in the midst of packaging some special live surf music events around that time, towards the end of the summer
Special thanks to Joey Reynolds, radio personality ChaCha, Joey's great staff at WOR-AM, Tim Sullivan and girlfriend Hillary who joined us at that unGodly hour, and the many people who wrote to me with words of encouragement about going on the air live to promote the surf scene in NYC and elsewhere, and after the appearance, the many kind e/mails from folks who stayed up to listen, and comment.....
This was a special moment, for which I am most grateful

got on in the first hour this time, and had a blast talking with JOEY about the NYC surf scene, and all the upcoming shows at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD thru September (2 this month, 2 next month)
and The TarantinosNYC, represented by PATTY and PAULIE, were just way too cool, playing SURF RIDER and THE KIDS IN THE HALL Theme

Johnny I PLAY LOUD Cola of the Outpatients tuned in to our WOR-AM appearance last night, and had this to say in REVERBORAMA YAHOO:

It seems that he has been all over the place. Strange that my only memory of him is of his WKBW broadcasts from Buffalo. I can't find any info on his age, but it looks like he started when he was very young, so maybe he's only 10 years or so older than me. I used to listen to him at night in the Phila. area. WOR is kind of nostalgic for me too. Back in the day, I spend many nights listening to the late Jean Shepherd.

had a total blast on the JOEY REYNOLDS SHOW on WOR-AM Radio, along with RICHIE ROTKIN and MITCH SCHECTER of THE RIP CHORDS
we were featured at the end of the first hour (local) and then came back for the first quarter of the second hour (national feed!)
I have been asked back again for 'early December' and will post more definite information when everything is confirmed
