first thing, is wow!!!!
but then I realized that all these people were not there just for the LSJ's
if you look at the other videos connected to it,
it was a all day, music festival with all different kinds of music.
but still cool none the less,
And thats not a mosh pit.
I saw Slayer at the Orange Fairgrounds in San Bernadino Ca.
the hall was huge.
there was 6 pits, each one about 100 ft across. with hundreds of people in each pit.
The I saw Slayer at the Sports Arena, in LA, all the metal chairs on the floor were screwed together, so barely any moshing till the very last song,
"Angel of Death" the place went crazy, ripped all the chairs apart, metal and cushinons flying everywhere, and a pit about 400 feet across.
I was amazed and frightened.

Kind of like the Bambi Molesters with REM, except a (non-American) Festival setting is probably for a surf band.
Also, I love me some Los Straitjackets, but that song sounded like ass. Hopefully it was the sound engineering. Very thin, and not a great song to begin with. But is much better on record.

too big.
i hate stages, and i would hate playing for that many people.
i like being able to get into people's faces during a show.
what is the point of going crazy during a performance if you're isolated from the crowd like that? i would feel too vulnerable.

Jeez, now I feel guilty for not taking those emails seriously I received from the guy who claimed to be from Mexico City and was promoting a huge festival...

We played a stage almost that big once at the CA State Fair. Only problem was that there were about 150 people and about 4,850 empty chairs. And of course the sound was all kick and bass.
This also reminds me of the first time I saw Los Straitjackets. They were on the road with Reverend Horton Heat and my dad and I saw em at the Crest in Sacramento. Danny was still playing his red Jazzmaster, and I fell in love.... with the guitar! Seroiusly though, it was cool seeing them roady for themselves, before the show it was like "is that them?" and after the show the same four came out all sweaty and it was like, hey that's them!
Then another time Eddie Angel was in the audience at a Barbwires, Pollo Del Mar, and Pyronauts show in San Jose.... that made us a bit nervous.
Anyway, we love Los Straitjackets!

Wow that is fucking amazing. I'm proud of them. I can't think of any modern surf band that has acheived that much success. They've traveled a long road to acheive that, years and years of touring. So more power to them. I'd look forward to a new straitjackets cd of new material, but from the interview looks like not until next year. Thanks for the link.
