Permalink SURF MUSIC mentioned in USA Weekend

New Topic

USA Weekend, that perrenial favorite of high-end journalism (ahem!)
has an article today (Sunday) about other music capitals other than
Nashville and New Orleans. On Los Angeles, it mentions it as the
birthplace of surf music, starting with its instrumental roots (it mentions
Dick Dale by name, and then the Ventures and the Surfaris), through
its vocal incarnations (Beach Boys, Jan & Dean), and all the subgenres
it spawned (including skatepunk and what not).

Not the most accurate article I've read on surf music, but miles above
most others in mainstrem news articles.

It even suggests that we are experiencing a new wave of surf music
right now! Shocked

Vince
