I just got mine in the mail a couple days ago.

http://about.me/nicholaus.lee

They are also available at The Ghastly Ones' merch page.

I've got an order in for 20 to carry in the Double Crown catalog, but it sounds like a few pallets of them arrived damaged at Tiki Farm, so they've got a hold on wholesale orders. I hope to get them in 1-2 weeks - they'll be about the same price as Tiki Farm, so if you can't wait I'd go ahead and get one (or more) direct from them. If you can wait, and want one of these awesome mugs packaged with one of our new releases by The Madeira or The Penetrators, then check the DC website in a couple of weeks (I'll be adding some other Tiki Farm mugs as well).

Jeff seems a little disappointed with his mug while Ran looks quite happy!

After getting hold of 151 proof Demerara, I've been mixing quite a few Zombies lately which would be a perfect match for the Ghastly mug.

Klas,
thats funny, but actually I had got mine at the tiki drive in event a few weeks back. But I bought 3 more from Norm at Sams Seafood as gifts for other people.

I was a tad disappointed it wasn't bigger.
but its fine, and the edge on the top hat keeps the mug from slippin thru your hand as you get more inebriated.

Mmmmm Zombie.
your makin my mouth water.

have you tried the different year Zombies from Jeff Berrys Sippin Safari
book?

when I was at Forbidden Island in Dec. Martin made me 3 diff. ones.
quite the evening.
with those and 3 other drinks.

Big Tiki Dude, maybe we should put our heads together to make a Ghastly One's Zombie, or some other "ghastly" tropical drink to fill these mugs.

Ran(Kick the Reverb) guy in black t-shirt above
has provided a drink recipe that is to be with this.
it's calle XP 2,
as Experimental drink #2
Hopefully Norm will be making those up to go with them,

I've been doing the 1950 version which is also in Berry's Intoxica book. However, I recently got a bottle of Maraschino liquer so I might try the even stronger 1956 version next time image

My Fav was the 1936? version, very strong with a hint of cinnamon.

I actually mixed 2 of them as they got down towards the bottom, and had some ice added to it, and thought that the mix of the 2 was really good.

Ran and I are going to try to recreate that at his house sometime.

Cheers sir,

I recently found this variation of the 1934 recipe which was simplified a bit, and it's GOOD and fairly simple:

3/4 ounce lime juice

1 ounce white grapefruit juice

1/2 ounce cinnamon-infused sugar syrup (see note)

1/2 ounce Bacardi 151 rum

1 ounce dark Jamaican rum

Sliced fruit and mint for garnish.

Shake all ingredients well with ice cubes. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with fruit and a mint sprig.

Yield: One drink.

Note: Cinnamon syrup from Sonoma Syrup Company is sold at Dean & DeLuca and Whole Foods. To make it, boil 1/2 cup water with 1/2 cup sugar and 2 cinnamon sticks pounded with the back of a knife; stir until sugar dissolves, remove from heat, let sit for 2 hours, then strain.

That symposium at Tiki Oasis last year was amazing, and the samples were even more intriguing than I could have possibly imagined. Of course, I haven't tried to re-create that drink on my own yet, but I would like to. It's definitely worth trying!

I recently found this variation of the 1934 recipe ...

½ ounce Bacardi 151 rum
1 ounce dark Jamaican rum

That would be a much weaker drink (and probably lacking the desired zombie consequences Wink ) than the 1934 original which had the following rum measurements:

1 ounce 151-proof Demerara rum
1½ ounces Lowndes Jamaican rum
1½ ounces gold Puerto Rican rum

Good point!
Never-the-less it still makes a pretty good tasting drink. I suppose you could kick up the alcohol content a bit. Plus, I'm sure the Demerara would be MUCH better than Bacardi.

Anyway, back on topic. Damn Ghastly Ones mug!! Yet another thing I have to spend $$ on!!

Not to be rude, but, I thought that the Zombie Recipe Skeeter posted was a tad light on the Rum.
Wink

Thats one of the nice things about some of the Tropical rum drinks, you dont have to drink 10 to get a buzz, usually after 3, I'm pretty good.
Shocked Cool

Just to be clear, it's not my recipe, I just saw it posted in another forum.
I have tried it a couple times and it was pretty tasty. The recipe doesn't make a very big drink, so you can actually double it and proportion the rum to your own taste.
A little 151 goes a long way, but too much of that Bacardi tastes like crap, I'm sure the Demerara would be better.

What is in the XP2?

Yeah my sister and her Boyfriend have about 10 bottles of Bacardi at their house they want me to take, (They are Vodka drinkers) and I'm like, what am I gonna do with all the Bacardi?????

I suppose I could use it for some large punch type drink.
