Just so happens that disc was in my car CD player when this thread started. I agree they're a great band and look forward to playing with them in August (in PDM)
Thanks Danny! We're looking forward to it too. And hopefully another trip north to play ( and hopefully with PDM or MBP). The last trip was years ago with The Lava Rats and CHUM at The Hotel Utah and Ferenc got himself a Detonators tshirt during the product toss. It pays to be tall!

And that version of "The Wedge" is waay too cool.
Definitely ... Bill & Ted, any chance you guys are gonna start playing that one live again?

— That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Our slow motion "Wedge" version is on the setlist.

You guys rock!

The Detonators blow most surf bands out of the water! I've only see them a couple of times, but they do something that most bands in this genre don't do... entertain. They make you smile when you're watching them, make you feel good! Yeah! Isn't that what it's all about?

The Detonators are definitely a lot of fun to watch. I'm looking forward to playing with them again at the South Bay Surf Stomp later this month

Thanks for the kind words Serpico!
Our lead guitarist your talkin' about is Rob Woolsey. It's an honor to play with him. He's a great guitarist and a super nice guy.
Billy plays some lead too, and all the above can also be said about him.

I love to see the Pyronauts play. I think they share the same ideals we do...which is surf music is a tough sell to non-surf geeks. "Normal" people start to glaze over after the same sounding songs in A Minor at the same speed are done by guys staring at their fretboards. Goofy surfed up arrangements of non-surf songs with some dorky stage moves and banter to involve the crowd go a long way. I have seen the Pyronauts play to the apre ski crowd in Mammoth and win over a bunch of yuppies North Face wearing skiiers with their own style of surf. It 's great to see. I am sure they wouldn't do as well in front of the lodge crowd by playing obscuro tunes only members of Surfguitar101 would recognize. I thing the Det's belong to that school as well. Not to mention the Pyronauts rip....

I am most grateful to him, and his band-mates
UNSTEADY FREDDIE
Freddie rules!
Are you comin' over for the SG101 bash in August?
It's gonna be off the hook!
Not to mention, Pollo, (with Danny Snyder), and Madeira, are gonna be in town to rip it up later that night
It doesn't get any better than that my brother. You can crash in the mo-ho, but I have to warn you. I snore.
Did you ever see chainsaw massacre? ;D

I just had to chime in here. The Detonators are in my top 10 favorites for surf bands. You guys are doing a great job.
"Liquid Chaos" is one of the best surf jams I've heard in years. The first time I heard it, I just had to learn it.
Thanks guys, and keep rockin'!

Yeah, what he said. That, and The One I Love both get 5 stars and frequent play on my iPod. Never get tired of them.

That's funny. Token in English has several meanings. I was using it to mean having one of a certain ethnicity to make a requirement. As in "he's the token white guy on the basketball team..."
Yes, and it can also be used in this context: That dude has been token too much off the wrong pipe
Ahh ... don't fall for that. He's just messing with you.
token |ˈtōkən|
noun
1 a thing serving as a visible or tangible representation of something abstract : mistletoe was cut from an oak tree as a token of good fortune. See notes at emblem, sign .
a thing given to or done for someone as an expression of one's feelings : I wanted to offer you a small token of my appreciation.
archaic a characteristic or distinctive sign or mark, esp. a badge or favor worn to indicate allegiance to a particular person or party.
archaic a word or object conferring authority on or serving to authenticate the speaker or holder.
chiefly Brit. a staff or other object given to a locomotive engineer on a single-track railroad as authority to proceed over a given section of line.
Computing a sequence of bits used in a certain network architecture in which the ability to transmit information is conferred on a particular node by the arrival there of this sequence, which is passed continuously between nodes in a fixed order.
a person chosen by way of tokenism as a nominal representative of a minority or underrepresented group.
2 a voucher that can be exchanged for goods or services, typically one given as a gift or offered as part of a promotional offer : redeem this token for a free dessert.
a metal or plastic disk used to operate a machine or in exchange for particular goods or services.
3 an individual occurrence of a symbol or string, in particular
Linguistics an individual occurrence of a linguistic unit in speech or writing, as contrasted with the type or class of linguistic unit of which it is an instance. Contrasted with type .
Computing the smallest meaningful unit of information in a sequence of data for a compiler.
adjective
done for the sake of appearances or as a symbolic gesture : cases like these often bring just token fines from the courts.
(of a person) chosen by way of tokenism as a representative of a particular minority or underrepresented group : she took offense at being called the token woman on the force.
PHRASES
by the same token in the same way or for the same reason : there was little evidence to substantiate the gossip and, by the same token, there was little to disprove it.
in token of as a sign or symbol of : we bought each other drinks in token of the holiday season.
ORIGIN Old English tāc(e)n, of Germanic origin; related to Dutch teken and German Zeichen, also to teach .
— I'm not a complete idiot. Some parts are missing.
