January Birthdays 
I caught the Mermen @Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz last night.
I hadn't seen a full-on Mermen gig in a while, and holy shit,
they burned the place down!!! 
Jim had a fairly spare
rig, and brought 4 strats (of which he played 3) and a Coral
electirc sitar. They played two long sets, and wrapped it up
at 2am with a stellar "The Whales are Coming, and Boy
Are They Pissed!!! The electic sitar was sublime on "Casbah".
I couldn't give you an accurate set list, but the show was
recorded and should be available for download @ "archive.org."
(I just found out about this archive.org: They have a ton of
Mermen shows available for free download there. A few Surf
Coasters' shows too, and who knows what else?). The Mermen
have got some killer new material. Let's hope they get a new
CD out soon.
I gotta go to take a nap: I didn't get home till 3am.
