You think surf bands are the only ones who have it tough?

I've got to hear what Fuck Your Stupid Civilization sounds like. I'm guessing shoegaze/folk?

I watched the movie Punk:Attitude last night. Supposedly, before she had the Pretenders, Chrissy Hynde wanted to name her band Mike Hunt's Honorable Discharge.
Classy.

Good list, but they left off my personal favorite absurd band name: Goblin Cock.
Apparently, they're a Spinal-Tap like metal band (in other words, they do NOT take themselves seriously), but supposedly rock in a way metal bands haven't rocked in about twenty years.
Either way, they're a great double entendre.

It's hard to pick a favorite off that list, but there's definitely some that have a level of genius to them. (Like Pabst Smear.)
Goblin Cock is pretty terrible, unfortunately. There's a hilarious video for one of their songs, and they get points for liner notes that spell out the lyrics on runes, but the music is completely ironic "Look at us we're being METAL" jive that's just as un-rocking as one could expect, seeing as the main dude is from Pinback.
"Punk: Attitude" is amazing.

Weren't they an "OI!" band?
I don't know what's more disturbing--the names themselves, or the
fact that I've actually HEARD of some of these clowns (like the
Crucif*cks, which is, hands down, the most offensive band name I've
ever heard).
Hey--why aren't The Cramps on that list???

Now, I DID notice that Man. . . or Astroman? is on the list. But are the
Space Cossacks??? Nooooooo. . . but the Spacecocks are!
Oh! And Satan's Pilgrims??? No--but Satan's Cheerleaders ARE. (Why
does that band name sound familiar??? Seriously.)
But there are plenty that are conspiculously missing:
G.G.Allin and the Sic F*cks
45 Grave (although the side project, Penis Flytrap, IS listed)
Lord Hunt and His Missing Finks
Skinny Puppy
Southern Culture on the Skids
etc.

Vince,
I can't remember the band name, but when I worked at a place doing cd distribution, there was a cd ep by a Deathmetal band, and it was titled "F*** me Jesus" and there was a very detailed drawing of a naked lady doing very bad things with a crucifix with Jesus on it.
Needless to say most of the Catholic Mexicans I worked with did not like it very much.

There are some that are weird and some that are downright offensive...and intentionally at that. I've heard that Anal C*nt tries to think of the most offensive song titles they can...which is also the case with the Meatmen who intentionally try to offend everyone...women, gays, religious folks, Beatles Fans, children with special needs, etc.
Offending people is easy...making good music takes a little effort.

Oh yes, I remember them. . . . "Crippled Children Suck," "Tooling for
Anus," and (my personal favorite), "One Down, Three to Go" (a song
about John Lennon). . . .

ah but some can do both and add a little humor too. Im totally diggin' Sylvia Juncosa's "l1ck my pu$$y, Eddie van Halen". oh yeah.
and just to prevent Brian from kicking me off the list, there is some surf content here, check out this pic of Sylvia Juncosa:

Random surf connection:
John Kozik, who took over the Boston horror surf band 13 Ghosts, which he later turned into The Crimson Ghosts to do nothing but surf covers of Misfits songs, used to play guitar in Anal C*nt. I'm not sure how long he was in the band or for what albums.
The first album I ever got in trouble for having at school was one of their albums. It just had a drawing of a woman's open crotch on the cover. At the time it seemed really funny.
