dp Joined: Feb 26, 2006 Posts: 3546 mojave desert, california	Posted on Mar 23 2008 01:36 PM ...been thinking and wondering about Mr. Dale almost everyday now. I hope he is finding a few comfortable minutes here and there... The weather out here in the Mojave Desert has been spectacular the last two weeks: warm pleasant spring sunshine and lots of wildflowers blooming. I'm sure Mr. Dale's SkyRanch is looking sweet right about now... Top
dragonfly Joined: May 25, 2006 Posts: 134 Orange County	Posted on Mar 23 2008 04:40 PM We received a call from Dick this morning asking how we are doing since we both had been very sick and my husband John almost died from an Insulin overdose...I am fully recovered and John is getting better now that he is on anti-inflammatories...It is amazing to me how Dick can be so concerned about us when he is fighting such a dreadful disease himself...Dick despite horrific pain has remained upbeat and in great spirits all along keeping that beautiful smile on his face...He is answering email on a daily basis but still limiting how long he spends doing so...His tumor has shrunk and is breaking up so he is booked for surgery April 4th and looking forward to getting on with his life...He has shared many of the wonderful emails, cards and phone calls from all of you...He appreciates all the sincere wishes, prayers and pouring out of love you all have given him...He's been spending most of his days with those he loves enjoying life around the ranch and glad he is still here and able to put up a fantastic fight...He is still such a great inspiration to us and continues to amaze both of us with his concern for our well-being...I figure it won't be long now before he will be back out on the road and kicking ass like never before...Much love and Happy Easter to all...John & Linda xo — I'm a lover not a fighter, a hugger not a handshaker and I take friendships very seriously...Love the life you live, live the life you love. dragonfly Joined: May 25, 2006 Posts: 134 Orange County	Posted on Apr 06 2008 11:57 PM FRIDAY APRIL 4TH SURGERY REMOVED DICK'S MALIGNANT TUMOR SUCCESSFULLY DURING A 6 HOUR OPERATION THAT LASTED INTO THE NIGHT...SATURDAY HE WAS DOING A BIT BETTER BUT DEALING WITH INTENSE PAIN REQUIRING HEAVY DUTY MEDICATION...SUNDAY SEEMS TO BE A BIT BETTER BUT EXTREMELY SLOW GOING..OUT OF BED FOR SHORT TIME BUT HAD TO DEAL WITH EXCRUCIATING PAIN REQUIRING MEDICATION TO KNOCK HIM OUT SO HE CAN REST...NO VISITORS OR PHONE CALLS YET...HE HAS MORE TESTS AND CHEMO TO GO THRU AND THEN HE RESTS BEFORE RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY, THEN A BIT MORE CHEMO AND REST, THEN HE PLANS ON GOING SURFING IN HAWAII...ON BEHALF OF DD THANKS FOR ALL THE THOUGHTS PRAYERS AND WELL WISHES YOU HAVE SENT TO HIM AND FOR HIM...GOD BLESS..LINDA — I'm a lover not a fighter, a hugger not a handshaker and I take friendships very seriously...Love the life you live, live the life you love. He's a straight-up kind of a guy, we need more like him. If anybody can beat this thing twice in one lifetime it's going to take a straight shooter like Dick and I have every confidence in him that he'll be playing, surfing and showing us all how it's done at 81 and well beyond, God willing. Dick remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Cedars Sinai Hospital... Address for sending cards only is 8700 Beverly Blvd Los Angeles CA 90048... Flowers or plants are not permitted in ICU due to the level of patient care... Tests results revealed they successfully removed all traces of the malignant tumor... Due to the nature of his extensive surgery he currently has a colostomy bag... More tests and time are needed to reveal if he will have the bag permanently or not... Progress at this time is extremely difficult and very slow to advance forward... He continues to experience exceptionally intense levels of chronic pain and exhaustion.... At this point only his immediate family is allowed to visit but they must remain silent... Dick is in a beautiful secluded room within the Intensive Care Unit and well cared for... They are getting Dick out of bed on a regular basis to keep everything moving properly... Most of the time he is so heavily sedated he is not aware of his pain or surroundings... This allows him to rest and heal at the proper level having had such a horrendous surgery... He will remain in Intensive Care for quite some time before they will feel safe in moving him... He is doing fairly well but he is not out of the woods yet by any matter of means... Please continue to pray for his full recovery, he needs all the prayers he can get...
