a quick review of the show in vienna, virginia monday, march 3
the first set was eddie angel and mark gamsjager, with teen beat on drums and the bass player from the neanderthals (or so i was told) they did about 6 los straitjackets tunes and the rest vocals. the stand out for me was 'last date'.
second set was bill kirshen (from commander cody and the lost planet airmen) this man can play the guitar. he plays all over the neck with his strumming hand and gets a lot of different sounds. surf content (sort of ).....he plays an extended version of 'hot rod lincoln' in which he makes references to a number of bands/genres by playing snippets of riffs, including the opening chords to 'walk don't run'.
last set they all played together. on a small stage with a lot of players eddie got pushed back a bit but shined everytime it was his turn to play. they did a great version of 'sleepwalk' so you could really hear the individual playing styles.
fun night, great venue and appreciative crowd.
it was a great, high energy show.
