Well gentlemen and ladies, it looks as if we now have an official date for Clarkston Surf Fest 2008! We are now making plans to hold this annual, no holds barred, serious inland surf music event on Saturday May 31st. This is the weekend after Memorial Day and we are hoping to sneak it in before the temperature and humidity (and rain) have a chance to figure out what we are up to.

The following bands have either officially signed on or are making noise about joining in.

The Broken Spokes (GA)
StratoGeezer (GA)
El Capitan and the Scallywags (GA)
Daikaiju (AL)
The Surge! (GA)
The Von Hodads (MO)
The Penetrators (AL)
The AcoustaSonics (GA)
The Buckrabbits (AL)
Killer Filler (NC)
The Mad Scientists (GA)
Rev Randy Duke (GA)

This year we are also planning to run dual stages to make the ambitious schedule run much smoother. There is even a rumor that Unsteady Freddie may also be able to join us once again.

Stay tuned for additional info as our plans become more definate

And it goes without saying......THANKS to Wayne Foster and the City of Clarkston GA for making it possible to put on this great surf music event.

May your plans now to join us in May!

Best Reverbs,

Eddie Katcher

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

When will tickets be on sale?

Aloha,

Still on!!

This is Eddie Katcher's baby--he's yer official POC, but definitely still on!

Jet

This is great news! I will be there for sure! I am a little worried about the stage thing, will that mean 2 bands playing at the same time? Or just a faster transition from one band to another? Two bands at once would require me to make a choice bet one or the other and I could not handle that! Wink
Thanks
Guy

I think it's just for shorter breaks between bands since there's gonna be more of 'em!

NO REST FOR THE WEARY!!

Jet

yeah this is gonna be great

I am thrilled, no make that, HONORED, to be the emcee for the 3rd year in a row

psyched!

question: is there a thread for the 2007 SURF FEST in S.G.101? (I was not a member here at that time)

I ask b/c I have some amazing pix that I have never posted anywhere and would love to post them here for all to see; would be a great tease and enticement to get people to travel to the great State of Georgia -- peachy keen!!

let me know....someone, about the 2007 thread?

or should I drop them in here, or maybe just start my own thread?

could use some SG101 protocol suggestive help

thx

OK, so I have just received the assingment of driving my parents 90's-model sedan from Naples, FLA to Champaign, IL the weekend of May 31...and I checked into SG101 to see if there were any attractions that I might visit along the way.

And YOWWZAA!!!!!

Shocked Shocked Shocked Groovy Guitar Monkey Rock Cheers Rock Monkey Guitar Groovy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

So...to get it straight, bands start at 1 and go to 10? Is there any more specific info I can get for the event (namely - hotels in the area).

Jet,

It's a great show! Make sure you take the time to spend Saturday in Clarkston for the day, It will be worth your while. Hope I see you there!
Thanks
Guy

Jet-

There are hotels all around it, man. They're right off of the highway. If you want to make specific plans, choose your hotel company, and search for Stone Mountain, Clarkston, or Decatur areas. All nice, all close.

You're going to have a great time!! I'm already itchin' to play!!!!

If you need more specifics, just let me or EddieKatcher or Richard or Jet Powers or WoodyJ or any of the Atlanta guys know, and we'll help you out.

and I'm itchin' and scratchin' to host!!
