Im curious if anybody here visited these venues during the early days and maybe have stories to tell. Please share them if you did.

My story is not much, but I was only 5 or 6 years old and my older brother and sister would go frequently to the Rendezvous. I would constantly hear them talking to their friends about carpooling from Corona to Newport and there was lot's of excitement in their voices. So much that it stuck with me all these years just how magical it must have been for them and now I just recently started getting into surf music.

I've heard other stories though. Something about a fight and a girl getting her eye stabbed with a knife. A bouncer named "Tiny" (I assume DD's Tiny) beating kids mercilessly to stop a brawl. Shocked Wooden floors that would bounce like a trampoline from the weight of dancers. Long lines of kids wearing obligatory neckties. And of course, there was eternal true love found for some in their dance partner. Wink

Anyway so I wasn't there, but who was? Please share your memories. And if all you have is hearsay, share that too.
