Thanks, I much prefer this style of communication. ;) What made Tim want to play the drums, and specifically surf music again? Was it just the Lively Ones reunion or had he been thinking about playing again? —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

To the best of my knowledge, I don't think Tim really thought much about playing music again until he had met Dano. After the Lively Ones reunion he realized how much he enjoyed playing drums again. At the time of the reunion, it was the first time his children had ever seen him play drums! Shave your back loser |

thanks, that's a great read. you also made me dig up the rare west coast instros comp again, highly recommended, with extended liner notes it has a fairly large section on the surfmen, and i.a. notes that Ghost Hop was recorded with an upright bass. I cant really tell from the sound through my pc speakers, but it really sounds like an electric bass-line (musically that is, not tone-wise). kinda weird, since the liner notes say that the (hired?) bassplayer for that session was given an e-bass but couldnt play it. this was about when TimF joined and a bit before Ron Griffith joined. Ropn Griffith may well be my favorite surf bass player ever. it must have been a total blast to see TimF and RonG play together back in the day.... —Rules to live by #314: |

Sorry, I don't know my drum history very well-- is that a Leedy kit? Hey all you folks who are friends of Tim, get him to join us here and teach us a few things! —Buy Speed of Dark @ Bandcamp |

Hey Ferenc....I actually think that is Tim's original kit. I talk to him a while back and he said he literally dug his old kit out of the closet and dusted it off... |

That drum set is the very same one used on all the original Lively Ones recordings. At one point it was painted red for what ever reason. True fact: Tim doesn't like to play any other drums when a backline is provided. He feels more comfortable on his own kit. Very seldom will you see anyone play his drums. —Shave your back loser |
