Dick goes back in for reconstructive surgery on the 5th. I got a short note from him and his spirit is strong as ever...he said "I'll be back..the gophers are not going to be delivering my mail" — |

Probably the other 5 bands. I can think of several bands that would school what Dick is doing live presently. Anybody who has seen the DVDs of the Surf Coasters and Bambi Molesters could attest to this. Pilgrims drew some raucous crowds as well. While the audience could have promptly forgotten those shows I highly doubt that. Not to slight Dick's earlier output which I think is amazing, but live Dick just isn't at the same level as some of the other surf acts. To a lay audience member, do you think they are going to remember Shigeo going over the top of the fretboard on Misirlou or Dick playing a fragmented Misirlou? |

he was at the surf museum today, and during the surf rockers set, later Sun nite. I was talking to Sam, at the 3 balls of fire show him and Dusty played with Mike Vernon, and he said hes still waiting for one last surgery to make the back door work so to speak. good thing he didn't burst the bag during the drum solo.
