I wanted to add another great show I saw. The John Jorgensen Quintet. He and his band played an amazing set of Gypsy style jazz.

Morrissey! Alright!
I wish our show could have been better. We were not happy campers that evening.
Did someone say Morrissey? I dig Morrissey and The Smiths!
the last time I saw Morrissey was back in '97 at the Hollywood Greek theater
a great show it was.
I've seen Morrissey every time he has played in San Diego since going solo. So that's probably something like 15 shows ![Embarassed Embarassed](/media/smiley/images/icon_redface.gif)

I was more looking for Non surf, but surf show lists are fine too.
If I was to list all the surf shows I saw in a year, it would break down the site, and Brian and you all would not be happy with me.
lets just say I saw about 90% of the surf shows that happened in So.Cal.
Even I can't make them all. Nor want to see every band
Jeff(bigtikidude)
It was a sad year for non-surf shows for me:
The only shows that I saw were Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers,
and Tony Furtado. I had a ticket for Gov't Mule that I gave up to
see Davie Allan / PDM / Concaves @ Moe's Alley. I couldn't pass
up the rare opportunity to see Davie Allan, and it was absolutely
the right decision. Davie, Sam and Brian rocked my world, and
how can you go wrong with PDM & the Concaves? It was a show
that I won't forget.

I saw the Cult a little while back. Ian Astbury's voice is kind of going, but they put on a great show. Billy Duffy is one of my favorite guitarists of all time.

I missed Feist and The Rentals, both of which played like twenty minutes away from my house. The Shins haven't played out this way since I've been into them. At this point, though, I'd probably stab myself in the head if I had an opportunity to see them and missed it. Same with Rilo Kiley.

I didn't know the Cult was still going. Boy, I used to rock out to that "Love" album especially She Sells Sanctuary. That was back in the 80's when I used to "rock out".
I agree about Billy Duffy. Also without him we may not have had The Smiths, so we owe him a debt of gratitute for that. He encouraged Morrissey to sing in his first band and is resposible for getting Marr started on guitar when they were all growing up around Manchester. (At least, that's how the story goes.)

Still going. In fact they have a new CD out. It takes a little getting used to but I'm now digging it quit a bit, particularly the song "Dirty". Granted it is no Love, but given what you have these days in terms of new music, it is pretty damn good.

I saw the Decemberists twice, I caught Old 97s at the Fillmore... I saw the Donnas (good, but it was better because someone paid for my ticket), Rogue Wave, Mike Doughty, and I think We Are Scientists was this year as well. I'm bummed that I missed Spoon twice (I've seen them numerous times before), but I DID get to see Paco de Lucia in February.
I went to a bunch of surf shows this year too, of course. I think I made all but one of the Surfin' Sundays in SF, I caught The Barbwires in SJ, and went up to the Pac NW for both Pilgrims shows. Naturally, those are out-numbered by the ones the Rats played this year too.

I saw Agent Orange - my first time - with Denver's Get Three Coffins Ready and some other local folks, Get Three Coffins Ready with some other local folks, and, of course, the Beloved Invaders Christmas gig (at the Skylark Lounge this year). I love reverb Christmas music.
I'd swear G3CR played Shake & Stomp the second time, but I'm not positive it wasn't just a similar riff. I was surprised because it's not their usual thing.
And, look, G3CR are playing again this weekend! I may skid down for that. We are now entering the Colorado season known as "Stock Show Weather," during which the windchill tends to suck the surf right out of you. But since it's cold as the grave G3CR works well.
I wonder if anyone's ever thought of having a Spaghetti & Western Theme Concert at the Stock Show? OK, maybe not the first thing the stockmen think of, but I bet they'd like it.
