as far as I know they usually tape it and show it one week later.
they said that the whole show is about 8 hours long, and VH1 usually shows 2 hours.
sad sad sad.

I remember when The Ramones were inducted. I thought that was pretty cool. Too bad Joey died before it happened, though. |

Well, it's about time the guys are finally recognized as the most successful and most influential instrumental rock act in history. While The Ventures didn't have a lot of Top 40 hits, they sold a HUGE number of albums worldwide, and still continue to do so. Some of their more obscure albums (and CD's) bring big money on eBay. To us older guys who started playing in the early 60's, The Ventures was the group that many of us tried so hard to emulate, especially after Nokie took over the lead duties...but Bob Bogle was no slouch, he just had a different, more "chord-y" style. IMO, they were at their peak musically in 1964-67. But like the Beatles, they adapted to the changing musical tastes of the late 60's and beyond. I still like the stuff they recorded between 1964 and 1967 the best, though. While they were not and to this day have never claimed to be a surf band, many, if not most of the first wavers were heavily influenced by The Ventures. I know that Eddie K., Tone Boy and myself certainly were! When Eddie K. called me this morning and told me the news, it totally made my day. Nobody deserves the honor more than they do, and I salute everyone who worked so hard to make it happen. —Jack Booth The Mariners (1964-68, 1996-2005) |

I "just happend" to have one of my Jazzmasters in the van yesterday and took it to the park around the corner from the office for lunch. It was an exceptionally beautiful day here in Atlanta, and I was able to sit out on a picnic table in the shade and play though the first twenty five or so Ventures originals and covers that came to mind. It was a great time. Their catalog of recorded work is mind boggling. I never get tired of listening to or trying to duplicate their amazing recordings. Yes we all agree: Congratulations to the Ventures! It IS about time..........ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |

True ... but what was the last great - or even decent - Cramps album? -Warren —That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it. |

I saw (witnessed is probably a better term) them on Leap Day (Feb. 29), It was easily the most disgraceful thing I've ever seen. It was PURE, unadulterated rock and roll. They deserve to be in the Hall of Fame for just that! Vincent —Is this something you can share with the rest of us, Amazing Larry?!? |

I am so glad the Ventures got in the hall of fame. Now they can go away and die and take their suck ass music with them! I fart in their general direction. |
