Gee, it's sure about time...... I think I'll take the rest of the day off and play guitar.... I wonder how many from their staggering number of recordings I can knock out during my lunch hour. I'll keep a record of them an post 'em later.........ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |

Hey, skeeter...what am I not seeing in your link? I see mention of John Melloncamp, but don't see a reference to The Ventures? Maybe I need to read it again. I am another who doesn't take much stock in the RRHOF, but if anyone deserves to be there, it is The Ventures. I've been a Ventures fan since they first started in the 60's - YIKES, I'm giving away my age. As a kid in high school, I used to save every penny I could get my hands on to buy the latest Ventures vinyl record (another age give away) when they came out. I still have several of them. |

Despite having to share the occasion with Madonna (?!), it is great news. Too bad those idiots at the RnRHoF didn't bother to recognize the brillance of the Ventures before Mel Taylor passed away. I think I will play their Christmas CD for the rest of the day. —Sean |

OK, I read it again, and see it. I should pay more attention! The Ventures should get more mention than that, but still, it's good to see them finally recognized. |

I've never paid much attention to the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame...until now! That's great news. The Ventures...Yessss! John Mellencamp may have sold a lot of records...but, I bet the Ventures sold more guitars!!! Same for Link Wray and Ike Turner. Even in their 70's they could have probably kicked John Mellencamp's ass. Leonard Cohen "rock legend"...wtf??? |

Who's Lenonard Cohen? Is he any relation to Lynyrd Skinner?........inquiring minds want to know. ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |

Leonard Cohen was a pretty great songwriter. He wrote Hallelujah. After years of slagging off the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame all of you guys who have been aggrieved by the Ventures rejections can finally think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is relevant! |

Doesn't matter what 'we' think. I'm sure Don, Nokie, Leon and the 2 Bobs will be pretty stoked about it though and I'm just happy for them. —Paul |

I'm not sure it's relevant to anything. But, if there is ANYONE who deserves to be there it's Don, Bob,Nokie,Mel,Gerry,Leon, and Howie. There is no way that any of us as guitar players (or wannabe's) can ever fully appreciate The Ventures' contribution to the electric guitar, which is the driving voice of Rock and Roll. Good for the Ventures! It's about friggin' time. I hope they get as much face time (is this on tv?) as the others, but I somehow doubt it. As far as I'm concerned, it's time for Link Wray, and Davie Allan to get some recognition in the RRHoF circles, but again, I doubt it. At least the Nammy's has recognized the important contribution of Link! That's what really counts IMHO. Rev —Canadian Surf |

Maybe Jeff "Skunk" Baxter will be asked to induct them. I saw him play with them at the Birchmere in Alexandria Virginia earlier this year and it was a blast. —Sean |

Congratulations to the Ventures for another milestone in their long and illustrious career.
How about that huh, I would never have guessed that, but it kinda fits his style. His offspring should still be getting royalties off that in the year 2525 Last edited: Dec 13, 2007 23:25:54 |

I heard it on the radio this afternoon and they actually gave the Ventures Top billing as the new inductee's. So who decides who give the induction speech? If the RRHOF does, they'll probably get Bruce Stringsteen or someone to do it. IF the Ventures can pick, it would be awesome if they had Los Straitjackets do it with their masks on. Each band usually gets to play 3 songs. Im guessing Walk Don't Run, Hawaii 5-0 and something else. Of course since their songs are so short, they ought to get 5. |

I watched part of it on VH1 classic last year. I think it was last year. And they show it live and uncut. The Ronettes went in and they had a huge orchestra blasting out that wall of sound and it was awesome. |
