Hi All!
I have just come across this forum and have hastened to join you. I yet was not at forums devoted surf music, and is very glad, that have found a forum. I often listen to surf and I wish to learn to play it on a guitar. Can will advise the beginner the textbook? What it is necessary to esteem from the theory of music about surf?
Forgive, I badly speak English, therefore it is complex to me to search at random for the information at a forum. Beginners can ask silly questions?:)All huge greetings! Has gone to read themes â¦

Welcome to the site! I studied the Russian language for 3 semesters in college. Unfortunately it is almost all forgotten. I'd love to go back someday and study it again.

Welcome to the site!
Thanks for a greeting, Brian
I studied the Russian language for 3 semesters in college. Unfortunately it is almost all forgotten. I'd love to go back someday and study it again.
Yes, peoples says - Russian difficult . I learned English at school. Then computer games, the technical literature on computers, institute. But I never learned English especially about what now I regret. Now I use the dictionary and the program the translator I represent, as it is amusing to read my messages! Bryan, you will not prompt, here there is no special theme where spread tabs (or â notes?)? For a long time I search tabs Aqua Velvets.

hey grin, welcome! your postings sure made me grin dont worry, we'll try to understand you best we can. babelfish good thing, yes?
there's a "tab" section under "topics" (left side of the screen) - not sure what's in there. if you're figuring out stuff yourself, you can always ask questions in the "surf musician" forum about paticular songs or parts. there's also some book recommendations somewhere.
in the netherlands quite a few men in the ages of 50-70 speak russian fairly well.... they had to learn it when in the army, to understand the wiretapping just in case WWIII came about .
as for english, spend soem of your free time on youtube and watch english and american "television" there. just comedy shows or movie-clips. being exposed to english on TV is what made me learn english well (much more than education)
good luck with playing surf, silly questions are allowed.

Welcome aboard Grin. As for beginning to learn surf guitar, I recommend picking a few songs you want to learn, even one to start. Listen to it repeatedly until you know it and feel it. Then pull out your guitar and start finding the notes of the melody. You can also find software to slow down the song without altering pitch, a very good tool for the starter. Keep building the melody note by note until you have the entire line. Then try to play it like you hear on the recording. Continue until you get through the entire song. Same with the chords. One trick for chords is to listen to the bass, 90% of the time it's the same note as the chord. Work through a few songs and it gets easier and easier.
Hope that helps.
No question too dumb, but don't forget to take advantage of the archives.

Wow, you so are hospitable! Thanks all for answers. In Russia surf not so popular music. The majority of young guitarists love heavy music and at forums speak about it. I have not found Russian forum about surfmusic and consequently began to search in other countries. I read your forum to learn more about surf but business moves slowly - as I spoke, problems with language
WR !
Many thanks for references! While I have not found that that searched. But I do not stop searches
in the netherlands quite a few men in the ages of 50-70 speak russian fairly well.... they had to learn it when in the army, to understand the wiretapping just in case WWIII came about
At us on this case learned English ⦠but it is very bad, all very much were lazy. Impossible visits other country â and not need English to home. In war nobody trusted - rockets are not able to speak. Now learn many languages:) My grandmother (yes - babushka! ) speaks that after war (WW_II _) its sister has got to Holland - northern or southern - I do not know. They did not see any more. But, likely, I have very distant relatives in the Netherlands

Thanks for advice, Danny! I wished what to ask here - I see textbooks (manuals?) devoted to a blues, country, to heavy metal ⦠but never saw the textbook on surfmusic. Such happen? (Them publish?)
To play ⦠I try and try:) I not the present musician, - a guitar at Free time (Hobby) it is difficult to Me to reproduce a melody on hearing. But I like to think out the melodies - very simple and to write down them.
Yes, archives are very useful! I Try to read them. But business goes slowly

GriN, we do have a few other members from Russia. Do you know about Mike from the Vivisectors / Bombers? He also did the Gulag Tunes CD's (surfed up versions of Russian "Gulag" style songs).

It is always cool to get members from all over the world. Again, welcome to the site.
Yes there are books of surf music tablature. There are some from the publisher Hal Leonard. There are also Ventures, Shadows, and Dick Dale tablature books.

Yeah, the Messer Chups rock, and yes they are from Russia, St. Petersburg, I think. Oleg is a very talented guitarist in my opinion and well what can I say about Zombie Girl.
I think the Red Elvises are also from Russia. Cool band.

Hi All! Thanks for your answers!
Brian
http: // surfmusic.ru
- a good site, I know it.
But there is no forum (there is no dialogue with alive people) - only the information. It is a lot of information on the Internet. In Russia pass surf concerts, groups play, but ⦠do not communicate almost among themselves. I just wished to communicate to people that play surf. Yes there are books of surf music tablature it is good, but I spoke about the textbook. Or schoolbook? For example: "10 lessons of surf music: from zero up to perfection "
Thanks that for names, I shall look for the information.
Welcome aboard, GriN. Are you familiar with Messer Chups? I think they're from Russia.
Greetings Jon! I know it group. But it is not pleasant to me:)
I think the Red Elvises are also from Russia. Cool band.
The Great band! After film of the «Six-string Samurai» I also have heard about surf music. But "Elvises" very long time live in USA.
Bigtikidude, Thanks, I shall try to look for the information:)
